AFF Luggage tags - some ideas

Nice work! I wonder how much the 'complexity' of the image affects what it would cost to print?

Here is another design (see the file '...2.jpg').

The '...2a.jpg' is a simplification without the 'Australian map'. That might appeal more to some people.

There's also the simpler tag with just the 'Australian map'; this is the '...0.jpg' file. I started with this before I was trying to decide an appropriate background image.

IMHO, #2 is the best of the three...

however the Australian frequent flyer bit needs to take a greater proportion of the image (hi Admin:p) when you consider a standard Card size.

Also the AFF logo is there as it should be
favicon.ico

I too like no: 2 (affnewtag2.jpg)
Would be willing to buy 3-4 of these if they ever hit the production line:idea:

Just to be different I prefer 2a (the one with just the logo and the departure board).
Great work anat0l! :)

Sounds good - I would love to order a luggage tag for AFF!

Can you perhaps let me know who the supplier of the qantas type tag is you have sourced? I know someone who wants to print something similiar with their business logo on... thanks

Take a look through the earlier posts in the thread, it is mentioned there.

Welcome to AFF also TheTravellingPrince!

Just printed some "proofs" on a colour laser on white standard gsm paper.

My tags print a bit on the dark side, i.e. features would need some rejigging in terms of correct amount of "washout", contrast etc. otherwise it just ends up being one big dark blue mess.

Looks good on-screen, but printing will be a whole different ballgame.

Here's a bump. Not sure if any progress has been made, maybe a surprise announcement for AFF#3 in SYD? But was just wondering, as it's been more than a month since the last post and I thought things were coming along quite nicely.

So whats happening with the Luggage tag idea? I'd be interested in getting a couple for myself...

BTW I like the designs so far (2a was the best). The only problem I can see with the design is that such a dark blue colour may not come up overly well, or it will be very expensive paying for the right coloured ink. (I have a friend who is a designer) No doubt Qantas has "Qantas Red Ink" to make their printing look so good.

It may be worth while everyone throwing in a couple of dollars and get an actual designer who knows about designs and inks, and what will look good printed (not just what looks good on screen) to do the design.

Just my 2c... PM me if you would like the designers name and number.

I like number 2,very nice but was wondering whether it would be possible to have the three letter IATA city codes done in a silver colour? It would make them stand out against the background IMO.
Wish I could produce an example here but I don't have the software.

My vote's for 2A as well, or 2 without the airport codes (IMHO it looks a little too 'busy').

Is there any word on when these will happen? This thread went idle last year :(

I'm for #2 but without the city codes. Like drewbies I think it too busy as it draws the eye away from the key design features being the logos and then the background Map etc. :)

As someone currently in SIN and attending a couple of FT functions at the do here it was great to see their tag to identify people.

Would love to have an AFF tag to show off.

Hopefully we can have them ready by OzFest, to distinguish FT/AFF members from just FT members :p

Hey guys (and gals)

the problem here is (and was discussed among a couple of us) is the cost of printing the luggage tags - $1650 was the last quote, this was by the same company who do QANTAS tags.

I had a number of quality concerns regarding the cheaper options, as well as aesthetics - for example, it is mentioned and I agree wholeheartedly that a FT type tag - laminated plastic is unacceptable.

So - here's the catch, I am not happy to carry $1650 of owed debt as I am sure most others are not, we can look at a sponsor on the card to reduce the cost, but I don't have time to get out there contacting people - I spoke with admin and he didn't want anything to do with it leaving it up to me.

The idea of a card is great, so to carry on, we need to raise $1650

I would be personally prepared to pay $16.50 for a set of cards (2) so that would leave 99 more people who would need to pay up front.... where do we start?

Mr!
