I have had a re-quote from the supplier:

500 cards, full colour, elastic string, reinforced eyelet:

$1,193.50 for 500...

that is...

500 AFF members take 1 card, $2.39 per card
300 AFF members take 1 card, $3.98 per card
100 AFF members take 1 card, $11.94 per card
50 AFF members take 1 card, $23.87 per card

Lead time 7-14 days

This is a good price and the best I can negotiate, so unless someone else wants to take the reins and try get a better deal elsewhere, is everyone happy with this?

Also, how do we intend to get the numbers to make up the full cost? I still don't believe that any one person should take the risk, however, if you feel that you really want to, it would save some issues, then we could set up a paypal account for payment with a slight loading per tag to take into account the paypal fees

I am open to ideas and suggestions.

I would also say that we need to take a vote on which tag is to be printed now we have full colour option, this means that more integrate designs can be used, I know many people liked the design I threw up last time, but this was more a demo than anything (mind you I am humbled!) of what we could do and I to liked the anat0l #2 tag with some slight mods - so the choices are endless. We need to make it a group decision - a tyrant approach wont work!

I think that if anyone would like to offer a design, we could make a close off date by say Sunday this week, email the design to me and I will host and post them onto a Poll where we can vote for the design everyone wants on the proviso that if you vote, you have committed to purchasing at least one set.

Am simply buying them as memorabilia, along with my FT and SQTalk tags. I lose these things all the time, and only use my LH Senator tags as they come in a v sturdy red leather fitting and have survived many a trip intact.

Great news everyone!

ADMIN has thrown his might, his wisdom and is financially behind the project for the AFF luggage tags and has offered to help financing the project based upon a couple of rules: (thanks ADMIN!)

1. Our design which is accepted for production must include the web address of AFF and final approval will be based on the web address being on the tag
2. We set a point in the future (2 or so weeks) where we look at to see if this is a self funding project or a failure cost wise - if it is a failure and we cannot raise a fair portion of the costs within the set period, we will can the project and any monies collected will be refunded (remembering that ADMIN is financially supporting the difference)
3. We will operate through a PayPal account I have set up so there is easy means to refund monies if the project is a flop

We have set the cost of the tags to include postage, envelope, PayPal transaction fees and their commission as well. The set cost per TAG which includes elastic string thing and postage is: $6.10 each.

I am sure there will be some who don't want to use PayPal for whatever reason, please contact me direct and I will try and facilitate another method of accepting payment - the price of the Tags will remain the same however.

Payments.

To gauge success or failure, we will look at the commitment of the AFF members in purchasing Tags. From now until 2359hrs on Sun 07 Feb 2010 will be our measure. You can pre-purchase your tags at AFF Luggage tag purchases .We need as many Tags pre-purchased as possible to ensure this project is a success. Please buy now and buy lots!

I will accept by email, designs based using the "front and rear" template available at www.kennys-adventures.com/AFF/PC103.pdf right up until 1700hrs Sunday 24th Jan.

At 1700hrs Sunday, I will create a POLL on AFF where over the next 48 hours, members can vote on the design they want. If you vote, it will be assumed you are buying!

The winning entry assuming it meets all criteria (AFF Logo, Web Address) will posted as the winning entry and by whom!
