Whilst I missed having the 30yo Lustau VORS Palo Cortado a couple of days earlier (my favourite sherry style), one of the more enjoyable (abeit somewhat rushed due to my lack of time) tastings was meeting the affable Barry Morey of Sorrenberg at Rathdowne Cellars a fortnight ago, and trying his Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2013 & 2017, Chardonnay 2012 & 2016, Gamay 2008 & 2017, Cabernets 2006 & 2015 (wish that I had taken a photo of them!) - can't quite recall though I might have had them previously, they were all wonderful, particularly the aged whites, and worthy of the good press they're received

Due to staying in town rather than head down to the beach this long weekend, I'm looking forward to Letizia Patene of Passopisciaro at Boccaccio tomorrow (11am-1pm, free)

Otherwise, there've been some great events lately, such as the $49 Chateau Prieuré-Lichine Masterclass at The Botanical and MW Wine's Premium Tasting, the former unfortunately coinciding with my son's birthday:
