AFF Member Stock Discussion

Any other AFFers get a call today re SYD airport buyout? I hung up immed as I always do. Bit worried they had my name 🤭
You realise there is a proposal to take it out at $8.75.
So will just be corporate actions people trying to understand intentions/ push the various lines.

Thanks everyone…..knew about offer/price fine…just in over 35years of investing never had such a call from a company I own…
all good and reassured

Yeah they asked quite a few questions regarding the offer and how I felt about it

MFG is in real trouble folks. It took only 2 weeks of trading for it to breach another possible price level where support might have come in and it has posted another 52 week low today. I'd expect the price to keep falling to around $14.50 where there could be possible support. If that fails and it takes out $10, all bets are off!

Yeah it's been ugly. I didn't sell last week, see little point in doing so now.

Reportedly lost their biggest client that is 20% of FUM and 10+% of revenue.

With mostly fixed costs that starts hitting the bottom line hard.

Though I did read the client they lost also pulled their money from Blackrock, so not convinced it's entirely due to Magellan's performance.

Not all doom and gloom:

"MorningstarTM Quantitative
18 Dec 2021
More details about Morning Star Quantitative
Undervalued
Fair value $42.34"

And actually up 1.5% for the day.

I'm not selling. And will buy more below $15.

That so-called analysis is meaningless in the context of the current price action and the what the chart is telling you.

Stocks never move in straight lines, up or down!

I'm not selling. And will buy more below $15.

Your choice.

They do it more now. Not sure what the driver is (i.e. whether doubts/verifying likelihood of success, or if they just want to improve response rate), but have seen it happen with a number of companies where exceptional (e.g. buyouts, or board dispute) resolutions are up for voting.

I've had these phone calls in the past, done to get a gauge on shareholder sentiment, or even push their case.

I don't mind it, listen to theirs or my side of the story, if don't like what hearing or not interested, can hit the red circle button!

We bought some CSL this month out of their placement. Mrscove wanted them but I thought they were pretty expensive.

I bought CSL at ~$100 & sold for $150, going back, I agree think there're expensive, but what would I know selling them at $150.

I thought they were pretty expensive.
I think you're right. But at the recent low of approx $275, I think there's a quick 5 to10% to be made here.

I bought some at $275 and will take up my full SPP allocation of 5 x $30,000 if the price holds.

We have takeovers for Westoz and Ozgrowth which were our go to for buying assets at a discount.Because these two LICs were run out of Euroz many brokers ignored both WIC and OZG. Wilson’s offer is generous as his business takeover vehicle is trading at a premium to its net worth. Will be a brilliant result if it all goes according to plan.
Still cannot figure the selling in Codan so we bought more CDA.
