Right thanks@MARTINE you can google it as it is an ASIC term where you need net assets of $2.5 million and/or $250,000 net income. You then lodge the accountant certified certificate with your broker so you can participate in share placements.
Does not sound like something that interests me - plenty to so on the ASXBe careful with this Sophisticated Investor status. You can get conned legally if you pick poorly.

It's interesting where this thread started and where we are now. I was a little bit more invested (no pun) in stocks back then, but I'm not as much right now as times have changed and I have refocused a lot of my life.
