One other question came to mind: To what extent can airlines take advantage of the current grounding of most of their fleets to undertake heavy maintenance that would otherwise/usually take useful planes out of service?

Hi Matt and All - just me or is Ep 32 not coming through on app subscriptions for others? Not picking up in Apple Podcasts app on iOS or my usual Overcast feed.

Hi Matt - very interesting podcast this fortnight, thanks as always.

As you were wrapping up you were discussing maintenance programs etc when fleets were grounded. I notice today that QF6017 (VH-OQI) flew direct Sydney to Dresden in a little over 19+ hours so one would expect they're doing some work while this saga is going on.

Hi Matt very interesting discussion this week and it definitely gave me a different perspective on the Australians stuck in South America.

As I was listening today to you discussing that the flight into Sydney last week was probably the last Qantas commercial 747 flight, a Qantas 747 flew over head! VH-OEG flying as QF 601 Syd to LAX. I was quite sad because I thought it my have been off to the graveyard. Very coincidental

I believe he's doing OK. Unfortunately many travel agents around the world are struggling at the moment, but he has a second job unrelated to travel.

My friend with his sharp ears, picked up an unusual biting sound at 28:44 and wondered if it was an apple or celery. I thought the crispness of the bite indicated an apple. Can you settle our curiosity please Matt?

I just played this back and it does sound like a bite of apple! If you pump the volume up there's a second sound right after, which sounds very much like someone beginning to chew an apple.
