Great article @Mattg .
Looking at this option to return from the Caribbean In July. Plenty of J award seats available on VS Flying Club and have a stack of miles so looking at booking PBM-AMS and perhaps tack on a free Euro connection.
What was the visa situation like?
Had a quick look and seems Australians can a travel card online but does require letter of invitation and yellow fever cert, is that still the case?
I found it a bit difficult to find accurate information on the Suriname visa requirements for Australian citizens when I went last year, but in the end it was pretty easy.
If I recall correctly, I just needed to pay for the Entry Fee on the VFS Global website - https://suriname.vfsevisa.com/suriname/online/home/index
This did not require a letter of invitation.
Once I'd filled out the online form and paid the fee (USD33 at the time, but it looks like it has since increased to USD68 including the VFS service fee), I received an Entry Fee Voucher by email, which was a 1-page PDF document. I needed to show this when checking in for my flight to Paramaribo, and then again at the border on arrival in Suriname.
I don't recall whether I needed to show my yellow fever certificate - I'm pretty sure I didn't, but I have one anyway so would have had it with me just in case.
