Thanks Matt.

I agree that the service and food on AirAsia is generally much better than the other low cost airlines in the region.

I think that AirAsia definitely has incredible value and you absolutely get what you pay for. That said, I once flew D7 on an overnight in a standard seat - that’s something I never want to repeat again, no matter the cost!

For short hops, the Asian LCC are hard to go past, particularly where the full service carriers charge so much more its not worth it.

We did Thai AirAsia from Hua Hin to Chiang Mai a couple of weeks ago. Took the flex package (meal and seat selection (1A&B), priority baggage (and it was) etc) which was still cheaper than a Qantas saver flight between CBR and SYD. Yes, I also had Uncle Chin's Chicken Rice. Looked a bit sketchy but hey, I'm still here. We could have ordered two meals each as part of the package but one was enough. Will definitely use again.

Thai AirAsia at Hua Hin Airport.

The onboard food and drink is definitely much better value on AirAsia(s) vs Scoot and Jetstar.

I'm generally a fan of the satay sticks and cubed rice.
Agree the overnight 333s are pretty horrible, though in the past I've had good luck with their Plusgrade offers both to Premium, and to a full row (sadly seemingly no longer offered - but the looks you used to get from the rest of the Y cabin were priceless)
