Hi Folks,

I was concerned that with the dwindling numbers that we might be better off postponing the event, but the consensus appears to be that we should keep things a little less formal, but push on none-the-less.

So rather than a themed blind tasting, I think we should downgrade the event to a friendly get-together. So please disregard the theme and feel free to bring along whatever you would like to share with the group.

Cheers,
DB

Sounds good. Is the wine swap also still on? Or should we just do wines with dinner?

So sorry to be a very last-minute scratching but I've been sent home sick from work :(

I only just noticed this thread and alas, I am unable to attend but remembering fondly my first event last month. Would also recommend that (future ones) are placed in the meetings thread, but have a master thread here (with link to it) as well . I can set that up if required.

I'll be down again in February, so will see if I can tie it in with a lunch. May have to work either side of lunch though :o

Wish I could have found a way to attend but alas :(

Hope you have a wonderful time

In hindsight, the timing is all wrong for this meet up, which is interesting given that it's at the same time as last year. I think it will be a very quiet night. Oh well, I'm sure we'll still enjoy some nice wine and companionship. I'll save a seat in your honour Steady, we have plenty to spare.

I have a March/April conference in sanctuary cove that would make a stop in SYD plausible - I would love to catch up with the AFF SYD wine lovers again

DB, we'll have to do this monthly ;)

Yes, thanks everybody. It was a great night, with some very nice wines.

No photos - no proof :D (at very least a shot of the bottles)

I'm not sure anybody took any group photos, of people or bottles. We were all too engaged in conversation and wine. I'll post images of the individual bottles from my Vivino postings once I have downloaded everything.

Not sure how to post photos from my phone, but from memory the wine list:
- Crabtree Watervale Riesling 2003
- Clonakilla Hilltops Shiraz 2009
- Shingleback Davey Estate Reserve Shiraz 2014
- Chateau Le Grave Figeac St Emilion Grand Cru 2008
- Cullen Diana Madeline 2007
- Glenguin Ironbark Tannat 2013
- Brown Bros 10 Acres Shiraz 2014

That looks right to me. Here are the Vivino label photos:

Note, The Tannat photo is not from last night. I had already rated the wine previously, so I didn't bother with a 2nd photo.

I will let you know the dates in a week - the info is at work and I'm not :)

I think it would be a Monday or Friday night - is either better?

With sufficient notice I should be able to make either of those work, assuming I don't already have something else booked in. Personally, Friday's are logistically a little easier for me, but for others Friday may be trickier. I'm sure there will be plenty of others keen to catch up with you. Once you know the potential dates, post them in the generic Sydney Meetup's thread. I think it's more likely that anyone interested will read that thread, than this single-event thread.

Cheers,
DB
