I don't get this post count thing. I realise there is a post list at the bottom of the "community" page, but when you click on the "permalink", it suggests a much larger post count than recognised there.

For example, immediately after my post the count is 174,709, but my permalink number is 233,751.

Big gap.

You'd think though that you'd base this off the "real" post count, regardless of deleted/private mod and admin forum posts. It makes it a lot more confusing I reckon.

Looks like drron or Hvr have got it. Although with the gap between oz_mark and drron being so big, the earliest prediction has a chance.

The post count started very close to 1. I remember around the time of the 10,000th post thread the difference between the post number (permalink if you prefer) and the forum active post count was ~300 posts and the difference was the actual deleted posts. Then there was an upgrade of the forum software during one of the other post contests and the post number jumped up ~56,000-58,000 posts.

The current difference between active posts and post number is ~59,000.

So in conclusion the committee had unanimously agreed that we will continue to run the post contests on active post count rather than post number....

I think it is about 6 or 7 times where I have looked good but then the posting rate slows.Guess next time I should leave nothing to chance!
