I had no problems driving in in South Africa (Joburg to Cape Town via Durban) we only drove from dawn to dusk. Although we had everything we owned stolen from our boot while parked at the Durban World Cup soccer stadium. After spending 6 months in Africa i never meet anybody who thought Kruger was a real good park compared to others mention.

I think the relevant point about Kruger is that it is a very easy park to do independently.
