you might just survvie a day flight, but then mel - kl is prob nearly 2 hrs longer than ool - kl so might stretch ya powers of endurance.

i really wish they raised the prices slightly and had normal width seats. considering the flights i did were nowhere near full iut seems they aint getting much benefit from the extra capacity.

if you can get the XL-seat at promo fares it would nearly be worth it. wont cost you much more than standard J* and the seat will be a bit more comfortable.

I also noticed it's best to buy your trips seperately. if you book kl - ool it's slightly cheaper in RM than AUD

It's looking like the JQ sale fares of approx $500 return MEL-BKK are still the best option overall...

damn. it suxs that JQ only do HXT direct from Sydney.

Why oh Why can't they expand their routes faster:confused:

yeah. i had imagined myself flying in dreamliner comfort to exotic locales for a mere J* pittance on their flight specials.

Hopefully it will force the other budget carriers to improve their level of comfort as well, or we might have the budget carriers and then at the bottom of the food chan some ultra low cost carriers who say they'll get you to where you're going, just buy their 10 pack massage discount

Well as long as they leave on time and get me there in the one piece I am happy

I have done Air Asia Melbourne to KL (return) and 6 or seven internal flights with them

Never had a problem

I would not recommend spending the extra on the XL seats unless you are really tall - they are not comfortable for sleeping.

I would hesitate to fly long haul with them overnight - but give me a day flight and its cool

just take some of the snacks you like - a good book + an ipod with movies and you are set

and fork over a little bit more and pick your seats in the 2 section - if theres 2 of you

given the price its well worth a little bit of discomfort - after all its more $ on the good stuff

But then I am flying Gold Coast to Seoul via KL and Manila - and flew enough Air Asia flights on my last holiday that the staff recognised me - so I could be a glutton fr punishment

I DEFINATELY FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!!!!!!

This is the FIRST time i have ever posted anything on such a forum but due to the service i received from AIR ASIA i thought it was my obligation to WARN all travelers!!!

The service I received from AIR ASIA was Absolutely DISGUSTING!!.

I tried to organize a GLUTEN FREE(no wheat, coeliac disease) meal for my Flights from Australia to England for 3 MONTHS!!(and its still not sorted and i leave on DEC 9! I have made at least 6 or 7 calls to their so called 'Call Centre' and could not get a straight answer what could be arranged and if i would have a meal for a 24HOUR FLIGHT?! Due to their lack of accountability and understanding of a common language ENGLISH, which has been SOOOOO FRUSTRATING!!

It is not uncommon to be put on hold from anywhere from 25mins to 40mins, and I'm sure if i wouldn't have hung up i would still be on HOLD!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely outrageous CUSTOMER SERVICE is the only way i can explain it!!!

They just won 'Airline of the Year' 2009 in the Budget category(i understand what BUDGET means but in this Day & Age CUSTOMER SERVICE should be above and beyond LEG ROOM OR MEALS???? Shouldn't It???

I hope i have prevented some people the FRUSTRATION, WASTED TIME & MONEY(after I've PAID for the flight and haven't even BOARDED yet!!! i have experienced from a poor airline that is trying to BREAK into a COMPETITIVE market.

DON'T EVEN THINK AIR ASIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would not plan on getting a gluten free meal. Bascally the hot meal they do is their standard fare and the setup is more like virgin where you buy your food on demand.

Although the Asian meals might qualify - depending on if you can have rice

The menu is here

Welcome to AirAsia.com...now everyone can fly...

Have you thought about sending an e-mail to them, or taking a meal?

I went through a lengthy upgrade via the customer centre from standard to XL seats, and found the wait rather annoying - but the level of English pretty good.

At the end of the day I think you get what you pay for. You should not expect too much of a LCC. They have a very tight margin.

When you pay the big bucks and you don't get what you pay for - then is the time to exercise your consumer power.

Its when a LCC routinely delays, cancels or takes an extra three days to get a passenger to a spot you need to complain.

Not when they are doing exactly what they say they do - which is provide limited food options

I only have one beef with them, and thats not keeping passengers that have not paid for the XL service off the XL seats

Oh one thing - I guess you are swapping over in Kuala Lumur - what sort of stopover have you got there. Maybe you can fuel up there?

Mate - cross-posting will not help your cause either. You have not even flown with them yet. If you feel this strongly fly with someone else.

Yeah, and go easy on the exclamation marks. You'll be in big trouble if you break that key....

Imminent big trips always cause stress.

Last minute rush to make sure everything is done before you leave.

And fighting the irrational fear that you will leave your passport behind, the plane will be delayed for many many hours and you end up being diverted to a completely different city miles from where you needed to be.

..hmmm .. actually I think I am starting to do the stress thing - and I am not heading off until March

Because, when people are paying $100 to fly from KUL to OOL, it probably means staffing levels are a lot less than QF, and therefore staff are overworked (and underpaid).
I have had a number of flights with Air Asia and believe this airline is great value, the planes have been clean, service and food ok. and almost all flights on time or early. I would be very happy if they had a service to and from Sydney. Does anyone have any information regarding Air Asia's plans to fly to and from Sydney.

What I've read is that the malaysian govt won't allow this route to happen in the forseeable future.

However, OT, are we going to expect MH to be servicing their new A380's on the KUL<->SYD route (edit in mid 2011)?

That is my understanding as well. Air Asia X applied for approval to fly on the SYD-KUL route and the Malaysian government rejected the application. The aircraft that was going to be used is largely operating some of the additional services to other Australian cities that have been added over the last few months.

Air Asia X have a pay as you go menu, just buy what you want to eat.
They will NOT load specific meal types for individual passengers.

So your gluten free meal ain't gonna happen.

Cheers

PS. What is Gluten anyway, and why after all these years, has it started killing people?
(I am assuming you will die if you have gluten in your food)

Look here:

The Coeliac Society of Australia
... Coeliac disease is an auto-immune disease, which means that the body produces antibodies that attack its own tissues. For people with coeliac disease, this is triggered by gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye, barley and oats. ...
Yes, people used to die from it - medicos simply did not know what caused it.

Thanks for the explanation Serfty, I didn't understand the importance of the disease.

Doesn't alter the fact that Ozy Dean isn't going to get a gluten free meal on Air Asia X.

I'm suppose I am not affected as i have an alcohol & tobacco based diet.

Cheers

I cannot believe Air Asia let PAX move to the XL seats who have not paid for them after take off!

If I ever get the courage to try them out I will certainly keep an eye out for this maneuver...

Mr Maxwell, get XL seats (subject to availability) at check-in for A$200 or RM200.

I think it was actually more a case of not shifting them

At least three people that we saw plonked themselves down after the flight took of and were not moved out.

Bad form I think - I wont be buying XL seats again I can tell you
