Also provides an interesting situation for QF, given VA's codeshare agreement with EY, if EY do indeed join oneWorld

QF don't need to codeshare with EY for them to be in OW. The ACCC may chose to re-scruitinise their agreement with VA if they were to join OW.

Only until 3 June, when TXL closes and BER opens.

For me, the exciting thing is that airberlin provides another option (besides Icelandair) for cheap one-way flights between Europe and the US.

Air Berlin don't fly to Singapore, and why would you want to. If you're in economy it would be like turning the clock back 10 years. I use to fly to FRA SQ/LH code share when LH did not have in seat TV in economy...it seemed like torture after you get use to the PVE's :mrgreen:

I don't get excited over the seat back TVs anymore. I just flew to London and back on BA and found nothing good to watch. So nowadays I prefer to load the laptop with things I want to watch. So no TV in the back of the seat wouldn't both me. I'd wap it for a couple of more inches of space though if I could choose.

If you click on Bangkok it would have you believe that they have many planes sitting there to take you to all their European destinations with direct lines being drawn across the map. But in actual fact it's one plane to TXL and a transfer to their other services. So a harder look is required to see where they ACTUALLY fly.

But in actual fact it's one plane to TXL and a transfer to their other services. So a harder look is required to see where they ACTUALLY fly.

Singapore is funnier (and very relevant to QF / JQ patrons). All those lines off to Germany are in fact conncections via HEL and the AY codeshare service!

Anyway, I have a one and only AB flight booked in April (TXL-MUC). Still trying to get my QF number in the system....

I just noticed on the OW site that Air Berlin starts with OW on March 20. Great to have some more EU options.

I wonder when these flight will be available on the QF site especially for RTW awards...

Nice post, you have in fact illustrated your point very well, as it isn't entirely clear which city pairs they do non-stop. Some days they do BKK-TXL, others it is BKK-DUS. It's also hard to tell which is their bigger hub, Berlin or Dusseldorf.

It is DUS. A leftover from the former LTU which AB bought some time ago.

I flew with them from PAD to STN (Lon) in 2007. Quite a good airline. Remember getting a snack and a alcoholic drink. Plus it only cost about 70 dollars with a reasonable check in limit. Good be quite a decent addition to Qantas.

Their onboard product in Eco is better than LH. They have the better seats and food.
LH has better Lounges.
AB has no Business Class on Euro Flights. I am really looking forward of them joining.
