AKL EK lounge denial QF flight

this is not surprising. I love emirates for the facilities they offer and far superior to our qantas be it inflight or at the lounge. My experience at Dubai airport was bad both times I passed through. They would not let me through the priority gates and stated that I had to be an Emirates Platinum to use the facility. Unfortunately I misplaced the fast track card and the ground staff lady was so rude. She even threatened to tell the immigration authorities not to let me through. Complained to emirates and got the standard response after 30 days. Hope you will not hold this and still use us. Why would I?

Never been an issue for me, flying QF Y or J. Three visits in past 6 weeks no drama (albeit the last one I was flying EK). Staff know me well now so I'd be surprised if I was turned away.

Not so crowded lately given much more staggered flights (and certainly my last EK flight itself AKL-SYD was practically empty).

I fear that the EK lounge will open much later. Not great for the QF lounges accommodating the A330 flight. Hoping the fact that EK will still be offering the flight as its route to BKK might result in the lounge being open as usual.

I'm a mere QC member, as I'm now only bronze status. I find the few times I still get the chance to use a lounge it is often denied for some technical reason, or because the lounge is closed or in a different terminal. Flying Qantas less and less these days, but still consider them our flag carrier and feel committed (but sometimes embarrassed) to use Qantas whenever I can convince myself to do so. Shape up Qantas, we want the old Qantas back!!

I may be a bit different, if I'm flying QF out of AKL (which I do quite often) I use the QF lounge, I don't really have an expectation otherwise.
I'm flying EK AKL - BNE in August , so I shall expect to use the EK lounge then.
That said, having used it only once before, I do get why anyone flying QF would want to use it instead of the QF offering.
The lounge is larger and the range of food and beverage is a bit better across the board.

Agree re food and beverage - though the food in the EK lounge has been slowly "enhanced" over the past couple of years. Plus it's pretty much the same food each visit.

Still beats the current QF offering and I hold very little faith that a combined QF lounge will match it.

When I flew EK (and as an EK passenger) and passed Dubai I was not allowed in the Emirates club with my QC. As I needed a bathroom for medical reasons they at least allowed me into their bathroom, but bathroom only.

I think it was in KL when flying Jetstar I couldn't go into the QC because there were no QF flights and it wasn't open. In Melbourne Jetstar flights fly from T4, far away from the QC in T1 ... I'm so disinterested to renew my membership... I don't fly that often, I only need it for medical reasons and it only causes me stress and disappointments. Some people say I should be allowed in for free as I have an OAM and a genuine need to use it and am not a regular flyer... Whatever, QC always gives me headaches when it comes to renewal time or on international flight connections when I need it most for my condition. My gripes for today

All of the cases with the exception of MEL you have outlined above don't give you access to QC or associated lounges with QC membership.
If you wish to access the EK Lounge in DXB you need to book your ticket through QF not EK.

You may be better requesting assistance in advance from the airlines you travel with due to your medical condition than relying on Lounge access that your ticket or membership doesn't allow.

Unless this was a few years ago, you need to be on the QF code to access the Associated Lounge in DXB.

There is no QP in KUL as QF don't fly there.

The information is available here, so you can look at if it provides access and under what provisions at the ports you travel to.

If I recall correctly that's because the EK/QF partnership excludes reciprocal lounge access in Africa and the Americas (and neither codeshares on the other on routes to these continents as well).

There is a Qantas F lounge in Auckland. But it isn't like the MEL or SYD F lounges. Basically a different room to the main lounge, similar basic food and beverages. Seats about 30 people. Not that comfortable. Usually quiet though (which is its main advantage).

I only use in the mornings. If there in the afternoon I will always use EK. Did it four times last month and never had a problem (flying QF each time).

I actually really like the QF Flounge in AKL. Generally quiet, and decent offerings in both food and drinks. It has a different feel to many other lounges. I use it after having travelled a long way, so that peace is a huge factor. If I wanted a five star meal I would certainly seek out a five-star, non-airline environment.
