Alaska Airline 40% More Bonus Miles

I haven't bought miles this round but the last time I did and bought enough for 2 return business class flights to USA. There was actually a glitch and they took too much off my credit card (as in too many sets of miles were purchased) and I got it all sorted out and refunded, no problem. The CSA's, in my experience are very nice.

yes to the 2 last offers - USD rate too bad now to buy any more.
you can do multiple purchases, if i remember correctly its 4 transactions through points.com over 30 days.

So has anyone actually bought miles and if so have you purchased multiple amounts as well?

I bought one full lot two days ago. I would like to get more but have no immediate plans to use them so no need to actually buy more but just couldn't resist the temptation :-)

Can you advise whether there is a minimum amount of time after activating your Alaska Airlines account before buying by any chance or if you need a US Billing address on it? It seems to be blocking my Mileage Plan account number for some reason.

I think it's 12 days minimum. No requirement for a U.S. address, perfectly fine to use an Australian address, if it fails, try PayPal

Damn, I signed up on the 27th so Ihave to wait a couple more days then. Hopefully it will tick over while the offer is still open.

Happened to log on to Alaskan Mileage to check point expiration dates etc and noticed there is currently a 40% bonus till early October.

Is it possible to use Mileage Plan to book into Asia?

I can see flights on QF to USA but nothing into Asia, or would this be something I need to call up about?

I know with CX I need to call to make a booking. Would like to use CX to get to Taiwan next year, and maybe QF back to SYD from TOK

Their award chart is certainly not the easiest to grasp.

Normally Alaska awards are for travelling to/from the USA, I think you can use it for some flights that do not involve USA (like Australia to Fiji on Air Fiji, for example) but this is an exception rather than a rule

I don't think you can do Australia to Asia using Alaska Mileage Plan

You can defiantly use Alaskan Miles to fly to Asia. Look at partner airlines reward chart and click on Australia. I intend to use my points for an award to Hong Kong on Cathay...then onto Europe all with Alaskan miles.

I think you can only fly to Hong Kong from Australia, not to other Asian ports. At least this is what the chart shows. But I'd be happy to stand corrected

I guess what I mean is that if you want to fly Sydney to say Taipei via Hong Kong, you can do it but it will be two awards, one Sydney to Hong Kong on Cathay and the other one intra -Asia award on Cathay
i.e. the above chart plus the intra-Asia segment from this chart:

I don't think you can do Australia to Asia using Alaska Mileage Plan

I had booked CX on Alaska for Oz - HKG (J) and HKG - EUROPE (F).

It all depends on award availability.

Your calcs are correct. Planning to do exactly this as well.
it works out more expensive than let's say with AA which would be 80K in F all the way...or you could do Etihad F for 100K as a combination of two awards
