Agree. If the Italian government and unions are just going to treat it like Alitalia, they would be flushing their money down the toilet.I can understand why Lufthansa didn't think that was a good idea.

On a side note it looks highly likely that within the next 12-24 months ITA will be full snapped up by Lufthansa and become a star alliance airline.
From an LH partner perspective I think VA would be a great fit and provide the LH group with a far greater access to the AU market.
