All International Arrivals into Australia to self isolate for 14 days

Are they really testng there, or just doing what they do in the USA, not much at all?
Before we went I read they had two negatives and count was still at 0.

We had a temperature check upon arrival before immigration.

Nothing like that in Sydney upon arrival which was surprising

How are people meant to change their flights, no way anyone can get through to anywhere. Understandably so. If you don’t make the flight or be able to contact them you’re a no show. Insurance void. If you do try to claim you aren’t covered as a do not travel has not been issued. What support, if any? Are the government giving travel companies. I can’t see airline continuing to offer free changes. All I could hear on the news was about the sporting industry and how they are going to suffer. Not Joe blogs who has several trips booked and can’t get them changed/amended/refunded. most people can’t afford to spend hours and hours on the phone. Qantas is a 2 hours wait ( unless your high status) without this dilemma! ... winge over :) ...already seen online people not going to do the isolation!

Crew are excempt which does make the whole thing a bit of a joke... No special medical precautions are being taken for crew so why excempt them?

Where are you going?
Singapore and Thailand.

Once the initial bunch of cancellations go though (next few days) I suspect the service centre will have plenty of time. As they keep saying if the flight isn't in the next 72 hours just have a little patience!

As far as the mythical Jo Bloggs I suspect Joe doesn't have several trips booked.

People will be ruined from this...........And...........Agree. All businesses will be impacted. Some won't recover.

Going to be way more suicides from financial ruin than lives lost by infected patients with Coronavirus - so so sad
So true, was in Woolworth with morning, it was mad, the stress the workers there were under was ridiculous. My role involves dealing with the vulnerable and chronically sick, we have had a lot of cancellations so far, people not wanting to go out. The staff who work in the travel industry are rushed off their feet and will now be worried about their jobs! The stress of getting someone on the phone to sort these things is enough to drive me to drink atm :)

And mental health in general not good at all.

Wait and see I guess. I’d still be inclined to go and then do the isolation thing when you get home.

I’ve got to go back to South Africa a few times this year and I intend to go.

Well Singapore is very safe, and the area of Thailand were going to is not a major city destination, so we could take a calculated risk I suppose. Not sure about the isolation period upon return.

I feel we'll have the decisions made for us regardless, either by the airlines, the Aus Gov or by the governments of our destinations.

Yeah I’d say your “risk” is the same there as it is here.

If you’re flights are operating, SG/TH don’t stick on any restrictions for Australians and you can potentially manage the 2 weeks off when you get home, then I’d plan to still go.

It’s a good thing for us all but with considerable short term economic pain.

Good leadership.

I want to see how Qantas and Virgin are going to be supported though.

Leading? or following the lead of a nearby country that is taking the necessary decisive actions early with less than 10 known infections.

It would be nice on empty flights and deserted resorts!

Depends what risk cohort you belong to....
Do remember NZ being a smaller more densely populated country has a very small number of ICUs.

Oh dear, I am currently in Wellington and flying home on Thursday. I tried to book a new flight tonight but there's simply not enough time, any news about exactly how the quarantine will work yet? Can I go to office for work?
