Given the mooted installtion of Mk II skybeds, I would not be surprised if PE also finds it way into the international 330's.

Now that would be awesome.

But I'd happily settle for the Mk II skybeds on the A330 :)

Hope it gets announced officially soon.

Re: Airbus A330 flights expected to include the introduction of lie-flat seats in bus

Don't they use the phrase 'Fully Flat' when they mean Skybed2 ?
and
Serfty] Given the mooted installtion of Mk II skybeds, I would not be surprised if PE also finds it way into the international 330's.

In the article they comment on lie flat , as the A330’s have lie flat now I was hopeful they meant Mk2  as Surfty commented. A reconfigure would allow for PE to be added and all will be happy… the downside and why it’s not announced yet (and others have commented) this isn’t going to happen in a hurry.

My speculation: The first A330’s to get a reconfiguration will be J* next year as they get 787’s in service. (speak of the devil:evil:, one just landed in Sydney) Then they will also pick up the Perth and Adelaide A330’s although some of these will go to domestic routes as well.

I think for a while we will continue to see 3 class 744’s on the SIN run (ex FRA), hopefully as they work out their scheduling we may see an A380 on this route. A possibility is a share with HKG, although this is usually full but as they will no longer (April-13) will meet BA’s connections some of this traffic may drop off.

As they have publicly started 744’s will not be used in Asia only for USA and Sth America, so it retirement for an aircraft that many of us feel very at home in, especially upstairs

Re: Airbus A330 flights expected to include the introduction of lie-flat seats in bus

Generally if you have a number of good news items they are drip fed so punters actually recognise incremental positive change.Rather than being hidden in the EK announcement of network changes an example is the Chauffeur drive launch a couple of days after the network changes.
Bad news usually gets lumped together in the middle of a longweekend when no-one is around to reprt it or notice it (excluding this forum)

Re: Airbus A330 flights expected to include the introduction of lie-flat seats in bus

I actually hope they consider the new CX/AA bus class seats... call them Skybed III if you like... and go with the CX A333 config of 39 J / 28 PE / 175 J.
I find the Skybed IIs v hard on the backside  and like the herringbone layout with all aisle access

Me think QF needs more than a Drip Feed

Re: Airbus A330 flights expected to include the introduction of lie-flat seats in bus

Any timing on A330 Skybed Mk2??

I am flying HKG-MEL in late November and have booked via Sydney just to avoid Mk1........

Any timing on A330 Skybed Mk2??.

No official announcement on whether it will even happen, so if it does happen, no time soon!

Re: Airbus A330 flights expected to include the introduction of lie-flat seats in bus

Thanks.....that is disappointing

Which CX planes have the new business?

Going to do SIN-HKG on CX

Most CX flights between SIN-HKG are regional J. A few have herringbone seats (744/343) and even fewer have the new business class seats (77W & some long-haul 333s). Even then there's a very high risk of a last-minute swap to regional J.

FWIW, I still find regional J significantly better than QF Domestic J .

Agree except for the 744 on the SYD-PER run

ALL QF's 330's to get lay flight Business seating - Including Domestic

As per this thread: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....12-13-preliminary-final-53439.html#post889065

Interesting - ALL 30 330's will get this - both those generally used for Domestic and those for international.

Obviously the Coast-to-Coast competition is hot!

Fact sheet: QANTAS AIRBUS A330 UPGRADE

This is interesting:

"Uniquely, the new Business Class seats can be left in a recline position for take-off and landing, maximising the opportunity for rest – a key point of difference between Qantas and other carriers flying to Asia."

Is this possible on other airlines?

Re: Qantas 2012/13 Preliminary Final Report

I note in the press release that the new A330 business class seats "can be left in a recline position for take-off and landing... a key point of difference between Qantas and other carriers flying to Asia."

Don't the Upper Class seats that VS use on flights to Asia have the ability to be reclined during takeoff and landing?

Wow - they look great!! More room than the VA A330s!

Are they fully-flat?

EDIT: just saw - Seats recline into a fully lie-flat bed and are positioned to give direct aisle access for all passengers (1-2-1 configuration).

They'll have to consider upgrading their A380 J seats soon as it looks like these A330 ones will be better!!

I assume "From the end of 2014" means that the upgrade will begin STARTING from say Nov/Dec 2014.
If this is the case, how long would it take until the whole 333 fleet is upgraded ?

Looks like a derivative of the TG 777-300 ER seats, which I liked very much.
