Any update on the first Intl A330??
Think it was originally QF35 on the 15/1 - is this still go?

According to EF the seatmap for QF35 on 15/01 is showing as the old config, had it ever shown the new config in EF?

Yes, up until at least yesterday morning it was showing the new config.

First date I can see with the new config is now QF35 on 17JAN15.

Agree. Hopefully nobody booked their flights out on those 2 days thinking they will get the new config. Much like the domestic side of things, I think I wouldn't believe it's available until it has actually take its first flight.

Just had my EBV flight subbed to an old config aircraft (after check in). Going to try and move aircraft. Wish me luck!

Just checked my upcoming SYD-SIN in Feb...it's showing 1-2-1 in J :)

Do you mind sharing the date? Mine in late Feb (23rd) is still the old bird. I'm crossing everything that it changes at some point, but also realistic about my chances. At least I'm on QF82 which seems to be getting the treatment first...

Feb 18......

Remember only one plane and its alternating SYD/MEL-SIN initially so at best every 2nd day

426 yesterday (14/1) wound up being subbed for a regular 332. I didn't catch the rego but it did have IFE screens :D

Anyway no biggie but then got to SYD parked at Gate 11... a little while later EBV shows up at Gate 10. I did chuckle

Agreed, it doesn't cover the 4 international -200s with Rockwell Collins micro-screens.

Yes it does.

This quote:
"Based on the 18 A330-200 aircraft, 10 will have iPads and eight will have seatback screens."

At present there are
8 A330-200s with Panasonic IFE (EBM-EBV)
Thus the other 10 (including EBG, EBH, EBI, EBL which presently have Rockwell Collins) will have iPads

Query whether they will remove the Rockwell Collins units.
Personally I suspect they will just use the seat cover to hide them.
I just hope they rip out the huge metal boxes underseat.

----

So the ultimate (by end-2016) A330 fleet will be as follows.

10 A330-300s 28J / 269Y, J 16" Panasonic ex3, Y 11" Panasonix exLite, Cloth seats in J
QPA-QPJ

8 A330-200s 28J / 243Y, J 16" Panasonic ex3, Y 9" Panasonic ex2 ??, Leather seats in J
EBM-EBV

10 A330-200s 28J / 243Y, J 16" Panasonic ex3, Y iPads, Leather seats in J
EBA-EBI,EBL
(assuming EBE/EBF come back from JQ, with EBJ/EBK to lessee)
(Edit. Other conjecture that EBJ/EBK will also come back with two other aircraft leaving fleet)

And the line above says:

If the aircraft already had a seatback screen then we kept it in. If not, then Q Streaming is used as the solution

This line is from a quite Qantas (the line above the author) so contradicts it in some ways, though obviously the Rockwell Collins screens won't work with the Panasonic IFE server.

Splitting hairs I know, but still a slight question mark that has not been answered. Nor has it been answered if there will remain a subfleet 332's to be used on international flights. On the current schedule Qantas needs two 332's for international. Now you wouldn't want to see Q streaming only a/c on international would you?

Agreed slight contradiction,
but if you insert the word modern/widescreen/usable before seatback then I think its only the 9" Panasonics that are getting kept.

Agreed they haven't answered the international question - and I note that there are still three 747s left for retirement in the short term - so the number of international 332s would only increase.
Would hypothesise that the EBM-EBV (ie those with Panasonic 9") are more likely to be used for international.

Per posts previous.
Complete - EBV
In Shop - QPA, EBA
Next Up - EBB
so one example of each sub-type will be flying around shortly
