Just another way to make it more exclusive IMO
delayed by how long? or was that not a factor? My Centurion just paid for itself.
Our luggage was delayed on the way to Europe. The Amex insurance paid $6000!
Not sure what other amex card insurances would have paid but I suspect less.

after 48hrs delay they pay $6000.
all they wanted was receipts of what I purchased while waiting for the luggage to return. When I found out they pay 6k, I made sure I spent it!
Replacement value was not relevant as not lost just delayed.

So you now have a wallet full of funds to bring to OT next dinner where:My Centurion just paid for itself.…………………………The Amex insurance paid $6000!
I am kicking myself for not claiming the delayed baggage with Singapore Airlines back in April, I totally forgot about this Plat card insurance.
I don't know about the wallet - but I have lots of nice new clothes..So you now have a wallet full of funds to bring to OT next dinner where:
* - You know you just cannot wait for both
- You will bring a quality bottle of red to share*
- I will bring financial advice re convo we had on the bar in SIN SKL J Lounge*
I just read through the insurance policy - $50k for lost luggage! Almost worth the inconvenience.
They also look at what you are spending on eg biz class tix etcThought I'd drop back in to see if much has changed, and to update my experience..
So after 4 yrs of plat charge card ownership, and growing the amount I put through the card every year, still no centurion invite.
I currently spend 80-100K a month on the charge card, and 30-40K on my platinum edge.
I would have thought that spending circa $1.5M a year through AMEX would have done the trick..
Clearly there is more to it..
And just to flesh it out a bit, there is absolutely 0 ATO spend in that..
Yes, its a lot of business spend, but a lot of personal also.. including good spend on the amex travel platform..
I haven't asked for one yet, its probably only just starting to make sense now, to have one now that travel is coming back...
I will ask for a review between now and xmas, and will come back with how it goes.
But i guess my point is, (as we collectively try to add to the body of knowledge) that pure spend volume doesn't seem to matter too much..
In fact on that, perhaps they would rather offer it to people that spend 100-250K a year, OVER people that spend millions, because there is a better delta on the points earn value vs annual fee for the 100-250K accounts, than the multi million accounts?? Who knows!
Yes, hence my comment about spending solid money on the AMEX travel platformThey also look at what you are spending on eg biz class tix etc
Sorry I missed that. Perhaps it was easier in my time, there was no joining fee.Yes, hence my comment about spending solid money on the AMEX travel platform
All on bus class travel, and fine hotels etc..
But on that, on a lot of things how could they ever tell?
If I pay my 55K a year school fees on snipp, how would AMEX know what that 55K was for?
If I spend 2K at Coles, how would they know if it was for me personally or a business?
