Amex Centurion Card eligibility in Australia

Hi Pointy,

Thanks for responding so quickly.

I understand your wife has her own Centurion card. What I meant was, is this her own Centurion account as well (i.e, was invited to join Centurion).

Basically, I want more than 1x additional card holder to have a Centurion card (not the Platinum). Are your five total cards made up of:
3x Centurion cards in your name (1x personal, 1x business, 1x non-titanium)
2x Centurion cards, listed as an additional card for your wife (1x personal, 1x business)

Thank you for your insight re. the RM. They tout it as so, so in the first year (they won't budge on the $5k initiation) I'd want to be impressed and sounds like I will be.
My wife did NOT get an invite. She does not have her own account - that would require another $5k pa with no extra benefit to me.
Your listing of my 5 cards is correct.
I do not believe you can get more than 1 additional Centurion card holder. When I asked about that they stated that after my wife, additional holders will be Platinum.

Thank you Pointy. Appreciate the input!

In my case, I received:
  • Titanium primary card
  • Titanium A/C card (not sure if they’re still issuing these according to another thread)
  • Plastic supplementary in my name
  • Titanium card for supplementary
  • Plastic card for supplementary
  • Platinum cards for other supplementaries
I think there's a limit to how many Platinum cards you can have. The limits for the AU card are more generous than the US card.

I haven't used the physical cards (except to refer to when making online purchases without PayPal) in a long time. I've loaded my cards up on ApplePay.

I think the new Centurion card design incorporates contactless in the card but is reportedly less durable. I prefer the classic charge card look so declined when was offered to change to it early.

I’ve found my RM experience so so. I think it’s the luck of the draw. I’ve had 3 RMs in about as many years.

I like my current RM the most of the ones I’ve had.

They can’t move mountains as urban legend on the internet might suggest (or I had inferred if one had the budget for it). Happy to be corrected by others' experiences.

I research & plan my own travel and think that’s half the fun (hence why I like AFF) so that might be a feature of the service that’s valuable to you.

Good luck in your decision. Shame they're no longer waiving the initiation fee.

Thanks for the input.

What's less durable? The actual card itself with contactless in it?

You've had three? How come? Do they just keep leaving?

Well I've pulled the trigger on it and accepted tonight.

Time will tell!!

I don't have personal experience but the new cards are meant to be made of different material to accommodate the contactless (much like the metal Platinum is two pieces of metal stuck together). The new cards also use the new format of account number and expiry on the back - much like is the case with many cards now given merchants don't use the physical imprinters anymore so don't need raised numbers.

First RM was more of a travel agent and I needed more account maintenance as I organise my own travel. Was also travelling more pre COVID like everyone else. I asked to change. My second was seconded elsewhere in Amex. It is what it is. You get asked what you're interested in when you sign up so they can try to match you up with the right RM.

Hope you have a good experience with it. Let us know how you go.

Fair call. Nice to know about the RM that it's ok to move on to the next if it isn't working.

Well I'd prefer to have the old one by the sounds of it! Oh well. It'll be loaded into my phone so I'll get over it.

I saw US get artist designed cards! Looks pretty cool but not available here by all accounts as I remember trying to find out about the PC art designs too.

I just got a call and an invitation to the Centurion program. Has anyone managed to get the initiation fee waived recently?

I think with the initiation fees, it's not worth it for me atm and can be better spent elsewhere.

My last annual spent on the charge to get an invite was roughly 200k.

I got invited twice and both times they couldn’t waive the initial fee and I declined the invitations. no reasons to have the Centurion card now, can’t show off to anyone lol as we all use digital wallet.

Have asked for a review. Will see how it goes.

Use the plat charge for mainly travel spend, have spent 10-40k p/m in the last few months, 70-80% PE/J/F flights and FHR bookings.

My RMs change every year or 2. Some are really good others quite mediocre. My last one was really good, current one not so. I'll be patient for a bit longer. Who do you speak to if you wish to change?

I don’t recall exactly anymore but I think I called the number on the back of my card instead of my RM’s number and spoke to someone who put me in touch with someone who I had a conversation with and ended up changing my RM.

Thanks. I get the feeling that I am very low on my current RM's list of priorities. The previous one would reply within 24 hours. The current one more than 72. I tend to communicate via email.

I tend to prefer to communicate by phone so I get an instant response.

Email is good if I’m not in a hurry for a response. I usually hear back pretty quickly.

It's only been a few months and I've booked just one trip through the new RM but the process was not smooth sailing. I do all my own research first so I am not high maintenance.

Wow! A 30% fee hike, that's insane. I can't imagine how anyone, no matter their income and spend, would get any value from that.
I certainly feel the same but for the msjoritu people who have it, they seem to not care or the benefits out weigh the "measly" $6500
