I know a doctor who has a centurion card, and up until now he has always redeemed points for gift cards.

I received the doubling letter so I'll cease using Explorer / RP combo by the 9th April. Can tick up another $300K by my deadline. Will have plenty of MR points that will see us fly up the front for many years to come.

$300k?
I can't even fathom that amount of money!

I have an extension on my platinum changes, till 1st July.
Which means I'll be stuck earning only 1ppd from 15th Apr till 1st July :-(

Likewise, I thought I was doing well with $30k - "Minnows in a very large ocean":(

I wouldnt say its got anything to do with talent, but more circumstance especially if its business spend

Correct. I wouldn't be using RP for non-business (non deductible) spend.

Just put $80k this week on the business explorer. And now the cards probably gonna get a lot less use with the rewards changes.

I see that most people recommend Krisflyer over Asia Miles for transferring Amex points before 15 April. Could someone tell me the main reasons for that? I've spent the last several hours reading up on this subject but am still unclear.

I will probably use points mostly for travel in Asia though there's a possibility I'll head to the west coast of the USA around December one year. I'm quite flexible with timing (mostly retired). Edit: Preferred departure point is Melbourne.

I also have some Qantas points.

I'm looking for best value and flight availability (needless to say), but would also like to limit cash outlay as far as possible (taxes, surcharges etc). I haven't decided whether to splurge on business or whether to work at maximising flights (economy). I only have around 150k points that will be transferred and don't particularly want to split them. i.e. I'll put them all with one program or the other.

PS Newbie on this board. If this is posted in the wrong section - I apologise.

Welcome MsTee. Generally it is easier to find flights with a Singapore, and the cash component will be lower, however this is offset by higher point cost and longer flight time to many destinations, especially east coast USA.
It really is each to their own.

Use @ferni. Will save you a ton for that spend!

I’m leaving the “manufactured ” point game. We have sufficient points in QF and Amex to last a lifetime or three.

Happy to keep accumulating via normal everyday living.
