Amex Explorer 80000 Points (New as of 31 Jan) Referral Offer

I'd like to put forward my referral link for this card - http://amex.com.au/refer/martieYqQm

I found this card thanks to this forum and was pleased to benefit from another members link.

Use my link and get 80,000 Amex MR points on sign up with minimum spend of $1,500 within 3 months. I get 20,000 points as referrer. Amex currently advertise this with 50k points online, so you get 30k additional bonus for using my, or another members referral. The annual fee is $395.

Card has lots of great features, $400 travel credit with Amex Travel cancels out the annual fee, I like Apple Pay, there's multiple insurances and a reasonable points earn. The Amex Rewards points are in the gateway program so transfer at 4:3 to a range of partners including SQ, VA, CX, EK & EY.

Plenty of other members have some great advice and stories; my extra thoughts - this card is assessed on household income which offers a great opportunity to double up on points. I took out this card with a referral link, then immediately referred my partner who only works part time and therefore has a low income. Based on our household income being above the minimum requirements she was also instantly approved - so a fairly easy 2 x bonus points and 1 x referral. With the current offer taking out 2 cards would net you 2 x 80k + 20k = 180k MR points or 135k SQ or VA points.

If you found that useful and want to use my referral I'd be very grateful for the bonus points :) http://amex.com.au/refer/martieYqQm

Given my hesitation and success with this card, I would like to put forward my referral.

I was hesitant as I hunt for no annual fee cards, however for anyone looking to book a holiday, flight, accomodation, then this card is a no brainer. The $395 annual fee and subsequent $400 travel voucher covers the cost immediately. The AMEX travel booking system is competitive and the agent online assisted me to book saver flights rather than sale flights (only option via online) with Qantas, for the same price as Qantas website. The agent online also expressed that they can be competitive with prices if you find a substantial difference elsewhere.

Key features;
- $395 annual fee, however $400 AMEX Travel credit
- 80k memebership rewards points
- range of insurances including smartphone screen breakagecoverage if purchased the phone/plan on explorer card
- 2 points per $1 spent except government bodies in Aus where you will earn 0.5

Must spend $1,500 in 3 months to be eligible for points.

Usually 50k points, however 80k with this referral and I'll receive 20k.

Big thanks to the person who used my referral link!

Love this card, and with 80,000 sign on points this is still a great offer. I am loving the 1SPG point per $ spent. But plenty of value to be had with 1.5 airline miles per $ (possibly even 2 airline miles per $ if your lucky!)

There is plenty of great info on getting the best out of this card on this site. I managed to unlink and relink my Gateway and Ascent programs as an existing cardholder and then get 2 airline points/miles per $1 spent after that. I am also excited about transferring to SPG then Marriott for their flights and stay offers, Alaskan Airline miles here we come.

This is fluid situation though, so best to read up on the most recent posts on this thread.

What has been working for my friends as recently as this week, has been to set up a new amex online login for the Explorer if you are an existing Platinum Edge/Platinum Charge Card holder. Then your Explorer card will automatically come with a Gateway account, once you make the minimum spend you will get the 80,000 bonus points. Then you can call Amex to have your two logins combined, when this happens you should automatically have your points pooled to Ascent/Ascent Premium. As mentioned my friend did this process this week, but keep an eye on the thread to see the latest happenings.

I wanted to share a tip to anyone signing up for this card to derive even more value from the card. If you find this useful I'd very much appreciate you using my referral link:

It is possible to add yourself as a supplementary card holder, I just did this with Amex. When you add yourself as a supplementary card holder it is called an "Account Card" or "A/C" card. I have one of these on my Gold Charge card as well. I did this with my initials rather than full name to tell the cards apart. It is possible to have all 4 free supplementary cards in your own name.

Why would you do this?

1. When I called up to add myself as my first of 4 free supplementary card holder I asked if they were still offering the 5,000 bonus points for adding an additional card holder. The lady went off and checked and said although the recent promo has ended, that it wasn't a problem and added the points. These points have already been added to my account and I haven't even used the card yet. The points were noted as "Service Complaint points adjustment", I didn't complain just asked!
2. One of the best things about Amex at the moment is their Statement Credit offers. I have saved a couple of thousand dollars from the cashbacks this year. Shop small, Harvey Norman, HCF, David Jones, Langtons, Westfield and Myer to name a few. Never hurts to have as many Supplementary cards as possible especially in your own name especially when this card comes with 4 free supplementaries.
3. The reason behind an A/C card is you set up all your direct debits on this card and then keep it safe at home somewhere separate from your other card/wallet. Then if you lose your wallet you don't need to change over all of your direct debits.

There are some great tips on this site on how to get the most out of this card, make sure you subscribe to these threads:

Amex Statement Credits have saved me thousands this year.

A quick data points for those following along:
I managed to get the full sign up bonus using a referral by splitting into 2 MR accounts (my old ascent, and a new gateway), and was then able to have them re-merged (at 1:1) into the ascent MR account.

Thanks again to anyone who uses my referral link!! :D

In short:

Use my link, and you'll get 80,000 points instead of 50,000 points as a bonus if you meet the spend criteria ($1500 in the first 3 months).
At the same time, I'll receive 20,000 points for referring you.

Hi All

Ok so I’m going to throw my hat in the ring with this one too. I know most people seem to have applied with the previous offer but who knows, maybe I'll find someone who didn't and would still love the excellent current offer anyway.

Sign up using a referral link, and you'll earn 80,000 points (as a referrer, I'll earn 20,000 points for each referral made).

My referral link can be found HERE

As many would know Mrs NoName and I ate our way through various parts of the US last year on flights which were completely points-funded. I’m looking to go back some time in 2018 with the goal of returning in SQ Suites Class (don’t tell Mrs NoName!). If you enjoyed my trip report last time and would like to see more gluttonous displays in the future then a sign-up through my link would be very much appreciated..

Thank you in advance for helping me return to the United States Of Eating and another dose of excess food consumption!

First of all thank you to the member who used my link a couple of weeks ago!

Now some serious news: With SQ deciding to be extremely rude and up their award redemption rates it is with much regret that I wave the tin cup and again offer up my referral link above for this fantastic card. This thoughtless behaviour has left me 2 referrals short of the prized JFK-FRA-SIN-SYD Suites redemption but we are not giving up!

If anyone would like to see the results of more than 24hrs non-stop Krug & Dom consumption then please consider my link. You will receive 80k AMEX Gateway points while I will also receive 20k.

Thanks in advance for the help in achieving a state of champagne heaven!

Hi everyone

I have this card and have found the option to use points for hotels through Starwood Preferred Guest (or transferring from there to Marriott) to be fantastic. I've got some real bargains, like the Courtyard Hangzhou in China for three nights at a total of 30k Marriott points (transferred from 10k Starwood). In Amex rewards points this cost just 20,000.

So I've found the points from this card can be a real cost-saver and are very flexible. Of course you can also transfer to many airline programs, including AAdvantage through SPG. I found it really easy to redeem the $400 travel credit and so this card is all upside as far as I'm concerned, as this bonus offsets the annual fee of $395.

If you apply through my referral link as a new customer, you will receive 80k American Express Gateway points instead of the 50k standard bonus. I will receive 20k and be extremely grateful! Thank you!

This is an excellent offer from AMEX, if you haven't have already jumped on-board now is the time! There's a reason the AMEX Explorer thread is over 160 pages long.

To me, the best redemption of the included points is with Starwood and Marriott. A single sign-up bonus alone is enough for 5 consecutive nights in up to a Starwood Category 4 or Marriott Category 6 hotel. This could be worth thousands of dollars depending on where you choose to stay!

The Offer:
80k AMEX Points / 40k SPG points / 120k Marriott Points
Annual Fee: $395 per card offset by the included $400 travel credit
Travel Insurance + Smartphone Screen Insurance

It would be most appreciated if you used my referral link here: amex.com.au/refer/eliismEjw3

Disclaimer: I earn 20k MR points for your successful application.

Just putting my referral link out there as part of the point accrual process for our impending honey moon.

http://amex.com.au/refer/williwdqsF

What you receive: 50,000 MR points + 30,000 MR points (referral bonus), you are also entitled to $400 travel credit that more or less offsets the annual fee if you do a bit of due diligence on a few hotel stays and do some price comparisons.

What do I receive: 20,000 MR points (which I [we] will be extremely grateful for.

Apply now and receive 30.000 bonus points by applying via my referral link.

The Amex Explorer Card is one of my favorite credit cards so far and it's just looks swag :)

I am from Germany and blessed to spend 2 years in your beautiful country. I will use these points to fly back in style with Singapore Airlines First Class. Even if you are an expat like me, and have other credit cards already, you can apply for this card.

What's in it for you and me?
You get 80.000 MR points instead of 50.000 MR points. (after $1500 spend in the first 2 month)
I get 20.000 bonus points for your referral.
The annual fee is $395, but you get $400 travel credit right away and can book hotels and flights at the normal rate. So basically it's free if you plan to travel.

Apply via this link: http://amex.com.au/refer/nadjahpo2K

Throwing my hat into the ring as well

The Explorer is in my opinion one of the best earning Amex's for everyday purchases, gaining 2 points per dollar on most purchases. The $400 travel credit offsets the $395 annual fee. Plus if you spend more on top of the travel credit through Amex Travel, you'll get a bonus MR point per $1 spent (until 31/12/17) taking Amex Travel purchases to 3ppd.

You'll get 80,000 MR Gateway points after your first $1500 spend, provided it's done in the first 3 months. (Instead of the normal 50,000)

Much appreciated if you apply via this link: http://amex.com.au/refer/nichom6vHi

Disclaimer: I'll receive 20,000 MR points for this referral

It's time for me to give back to the community!

The explorer is one of the best options since ANZ canned their American Express partnership.

What's in it for you?
- Sign up using my link and you'll get 80,000 membership reward points instead of the usual 50,000

- Earn rate of 2 membership points per dollar
- ability to transfer your points to 8 airlines
- Smartphone screen insurance up to the amount of $500 when you pay for your phone outright with the card or pay your monthly mobile contract with the card
- 0% transfer for the first 12 months
- medical, travel insurance
- 2 AMEX lounge entries every year

What's the catch?
- annual fee of $395 per year

What's in it for me?

American Express has done it again!

With this new(ish) card, it is offering 1.5 Airline Miles per dollar spent on most credit card purchases.

It gets even better, if you apply the card via Referral link below, you get 80000 Gateway Membership Rewards bonus points instead of usual 50000 bonus points. That is extra 30000 Gateway MR Points that you don't get if you apply via standard Amex promo link. Please see the referral link below:

APPLY HERE

Now I would get 20000 points as a referrer. However you get many more miles applying via the referral link above, than the standard Amex offering. Therefore it is a win win situation!

So officially 80000 Gateway Bonus Points equates to 60000 Airline Points, unless you already have American Express Ascent account, which you can theoretically link the card to Ascent program (after earning bonus points) and it becomes 80000 Ascent points:

- Virgin Australia Velocity
- Singapore Airlines Krisflyer
- Cathay Pacific Asia Miles
- Emirates Skywards
- Etihad Guest
- Thai Airways Royal Orchid
- Malaysia Airlines Enrich

So what can 80000 Airline Miles get you (assume you link it with Ascent program after earning the bonus points)? Here are some of the examples:

Singapore Krisflyer:
- One-way Business Class from Australia to Europe served by Singapore Airlines (80750 Krisflyer Miles + tax)
- One-way First/Suite Class from Australia to Hong Kong served by Singapore Airlines (63500 Krisflyer Miles + tax)
- One-way First/Suite Class from Australia to Tokyo served by Singapore Airlines (80750 Krisflyer Miles + tax)

Cathay Pacific Asia Miles:
- Return Business Class trip from Australia to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific (80000 Asia Miles + tax)

This is a fantastic deal! Just signing up the card and spend $1500 within first 3 months, and you get a free Business or First Class trip ticket with it! If you are interested, please apply via the following link:

APPLY HERE

Hi Kamchatsky, apply explorer, and link with my platinum edge after bonus points in, and it will give me 60,000 ascent points, it is really a good deal. Just wonder with i currently hold the platinum edge, am I still entitled for this 80,000 bonus point?

Thanks.

You are not "entitled" to the points under the T&C's however in most likelyhood you will get the 80,000 bonus points if you apply via a referral.

Enjoy!

Been on this card since January 2017 and the rate that this Explorer is picking up points is unbelievable! For every $1 = up to 2pt earning and also the 80,000 sign up bonus points, this card surely is a game-changer. Do remember that you are only eligible for the bonus points via referral links like the one I'm sharing, especially if you already are an existing user of AMEX-distributed card AND NOT enrolled in Gateway program just yet.

http://amex.com.au/refer/munhoydFnf

80,000 bonus points is no small feat as it opens up to a whole new world of adventures with unparalleled conversion from MR to Mile points! It really almost is the everyday card for any consumers, regardless of their spending power. Not forgetting that you'll also receive a generous sum of $400 travel credit to be used on flights, hotels and/or tour packages, easily offsetting the reasonable annual fee. Note that the travel credit kicks in after having paid for the annual fee + minimum repayment after the first month. Been an AMEX user for the past 4 years and never once let down by their attentive CSR + service.

Needless to say, I'd very much be delighted if you truly think that this post helps by applying using the link provided as it not only brings you one step closer to that dream holiday of yours, but also mine as I will receive a referral bonus of 20,000 points. Afterall, it's all about giving and sharing to all those especially on this forum!

http://amex.com.au/refer/munhoydFnf

A big THANK YOU in advance to anyone who decides to use my referral link to apply for the card. Much appreciated!
