Does anyone know if Aldi not accepting Amex is company policy or store dependent?
TIA.
Company policy TBMK.
It is company policy. Source: https://www.aldi.com.au/en/about-aldi/customer-information/payments-faqs/
Thanks both of you.
We tried it out yesterday and were reasonably impressed and I whipped out my Platinum Edge card for 3pts/$ but..... wel you know the rest of that story. Need to decide whether the money savings over Woolies are worth it for 0.66pts/$ as opposed to 1pt/$ and the hassle of getting to an Aldi when Woolies is walking distance.
Don't Aldi have a credit card surcharge anyway? Agree for that saving extra points aren't worth it. I won't be switching from coles though.
BP Enfield.
Pulled up and looked at cards accepted and Amex is shown. Filled up just over $52 and went inside to pay and scanned Velocity card then went scan Amex. Sorry there is 2% surcharge. What? Where is that displayed. Was told there was sign outside. Went to have a look no sign. There is a sign inside not quite eye level and above and right from payment terminal.
I am upset. You can't spring surcharge on me at last step. I need to know there is surcharge before I purchase fuel not after. I will complain to both BP and Amex.
And next time I will go and purchase $50+ fuel and pay in 5c, 10c, 20c and 50c coins. Take it leave it.

I didn't see the surcharge mentioned at the pumps but that could just be me. I looked on the doors of the shop and saw the sign of accepted credit cards. Couldn't see surcharge mentioned inside either until I started checking later. Have photo of shop front and the sign inside. Will send these photos to BP and Amex when I get the chance. That's bang out of order. THe surcharge needs to displayed on the pumps so you can make an informed decision. I would have argued it there and then and refused to pay unless the surcharge was removed. Definitely worth complaining to BP and Amex. Luckily none of the BP stations I have been to recently to take advantage of the Amex statement credits have surcharged or worse still refused Amex.
That was the main reason I purchased fuel at BP plus also the Velocity/BP promotion of triple points on 3rd fill. I visited 7-8 BPs in the area last night and today and every one of them is way more expensive than the independents.Had you signed up to the $10 off $40 statement credit JohnK-would at least have taken away some of the sting?

Last night I purchased 2 x $25 gift cards from another BP in the area paying by Amex and no surcharge.
BP Croydon Park. They have $25, $100 and $200.Where did you find that sold the gift cards in the innerwest?

Not Inner West but just seen some in Pittwater Rd in Manly
I was going to try North Manly first as they had cards during the last BP promotion (5 or was it 6 bonus points) when many of us banked the BP gift cards.
Might find ourselves fighting it out for Local Champ
Don't think so. I haven't bothered to find out how that woks. Do you have to show an app on your phone everytime you purchase? Already too many things to remember to do.
Did you remember to swipe your Virgin Velocity card?
So you could go to Coles for instance and at self check-out pay for the weekly shop one item at a time?
Sounds like shooting trout in a barrel.
