Update to paying nrma with giftcards at a shopfront, she said they are only able to take 1 transaction per payment type.. for example 1*cheq, 1*eftpos, 1*cash.. she is sure thats been their policy and hasnt changed. Can anyone confirm if they have successfully split payment?

Try another nrma. I have recently used multiple cards to pay. Tell them that you are happy to take your business elsewhere.

Off thread topic but Entertainment Book often has good offers for Mantra. Also you can get cashrewards with wotif

Which store did you go to foggy? I'm planning to go to Sydney CBD store this afternoon. Have some eftpos GCs Is earmarked for that payment now that Australia Post self serve machines have been programmed for cash only I no longer have a need for them as a payment form.

I will give it a shot, i won't be able to make it to another nrma but will try a different rep and make the "threat to leave"

I went to the one in chatswood, I also bought the eftpos cards instead of the visa1/colesmc.

Does anyone know if there are any reloadable visa cards that will take eftpos to top up? that is the only other solution I can think of..
otherwise buying a $1000 gc from HN with the cashback

My local corporate-owned Australia Post outlet stopped accepting AMEX about a month ago when they changed over their EFTPOS terminals/configurations but hadn't bothered to set it up on the new system.:mad::mad:

Kept complaining to their head office and this week they've finally got their act together and it works again! :)

Now if only they would bother to update their software so that I don't have to insert the card, wait for it to think, remove the card and then swipe it just to pay. It's 2017 - let's have some Paywave!

Auspost is now 0.5ppd for amex so not worth paying direct?

Oh ok, didn't know those were still around. I actually use a gift card bought with my explorer so earning 2KF/$1 as rewards are linked to ascent

My understanding is that it is the card reader (VX820?) that is outdated.

That'd surprise me - I generally find that EFTPOS terminals with colour screens in Australia are capable of processing AMEX with a chip and Paywave, but it just depends on whether the acquirer has loaded it with the appropriate software to enable that.

For instance, until about 6 months ago, I'd never seen a NAB terminal support Paywave for AMEX. Then came a software update and boom, it started working everywhere. :)

(Of course, the NAB ones could all process AMEX via chip before that, whereas AusPost can't even do that... perhaps AP has one of the oldest 'modern' terminals which just can't do it?)

Also had to pay a bill at AusPost using Visa the other day (>$100) as biller didn't accept AMEX and noticed that the Paywave screen was automatically disabled, so couldn't use Apple Pay like you can elsewhere for larger transactions without a PIN. :(

Maybe something to do with the fact that Australia Post is not a normal merchant. They also operate GiroPost / Bank@Post, so their system would need to be customised.

I've got a feeling these deft charges won't be reducing with interchange cuts. The only thing reducing will be the points we are making. Looks like back to BPay for strata :(
Probably worth one more pre-emotive payment before the new regime comes in.

DEFT Strata payment yesterday.
1.5% Visa or MC, 3.5% AMEX

I pay my strata at AP using EFTPOS gift cards.

I play dumb and clumsy at the counter, so the staffs always roll their eyes thinking "another dumb customer who is going to take forever" and they would daydream or get distracted to realise I'm using EFTPOS card.

Haven't had any luck at the counter 'those gift cards aren't intended to be used for bill payments sir' - they're especially on the lookout for Westfield XS cards.
The eftpos functionality has been removed from self serve at all the post offices I used to pay bills with Eftpos GCs. Interested if there are still any that work in Sydney.
