Amex Platinum $200 "Dining credit" towards a list of Global Restaurants

Is there an online list of restaurants they can get tables for?
Nope, now it's more case by case. However, I can confirm that all restaurants under Merivale are no longer in cooperation with AMEX, asked about 2 months ago.

FINK Group & some other restaurants like Tetsuya's, Firedoor, Oncore still have the platinum table.

But somehow I did receive an email from Merivale recently, saying that they are giving wines for AMEX bookings (4 or more people)

Merivale Online Wine Store is listed on Domestic Fine Dining $200 Credit - website says you cna buy from online store but link lead to their mainpage for winestores. tried calling merical Winestores and after repeated attempts due to hangups, timeouts/no answers eby Merivale group finally got through and was told Merivale does NOT sell wine online, nor has it done so for some time! So how did Merivale end up on Amex Fine Dining Credit webpage? Seems even Amex are going down the tube - the new voice recognition doesnt work whe ncalling Platinum line, nor does manually entering their number. Yet i can call United Airlines and American Airlines and their phone voice recognition always work perfectly and alway has even with out Ozzie accents

anyone else see local and overseas dining credits of $200 each per year?
Travel benefit is on the QF Ultimate Amex card, and an ever-changing list of offers - some useful, some not so - but not these dining offers - shame.

Anybody have any luck buying gift cards with this and still getting credit? I did something similar with the $300 dining credit last year and worked out fine.

Heading overseas in January, so a gift card and then the next $200 next year wouldn’t go astray at all!

I don't think it might work this time as the list of restaurants is pretty much restricted. Last year's dining credit had a different coverage and lot of local restaurants/food joints who accepted Amex were also included in the dining credit offer ( not the current one).

Fine print suggests that purchasing gift cards does not apply.

Finally, something useful instead of all the nonsense they usually “offer” you (discounted ‘mindfulness’ apps, anyone?).

A holiday in Italy at the end of the year that sees us arriving early Dec and leaving early Jan. Looks like I can use the OS credit twice!

Is the registration of Australian Plat Charge required?

From what I gathered when booking a few weeks ago, you don't need to create a Pocket Concierge account but you do need to enter your primary Plat Charge card at the time of booking. Pocket Concierge will bill your card immediately to confirm the reservation.

I opted to create an account anyway so I could retrieve the booking and easily cancel/modify if needed.

The $200 statement credit hasn't come through yet, but that may be because it's possible to cancel Pocket Concierge bookings - so I'll wait until after my reservation (late October) to reach out to Amex. The T&C are quite ridiculous unfortunately - "the credit should appear on your billing statement within 5 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 150 days from the offer end date". The dining credit in Amex Offers also seems to span multiple years, so I don't think we can expect that to trigger or move to the Savings tab like a normal Amex Offer would.

I'm definitely pushing my luck here but I also found Amex Japan is running a Shop Small 20% cashback campaign (up to 2500 yen) which includes spend at Pocket Concierge. The T&C mention that only Japan-issued Amex cards are eligible.. but it let me register, so lets see what happens 😂

Somewhat off topic, but from the wording of your question I guess you may be referring to the yellow bar on the PC site that reads Notification when registering for a credit card?

Compared with how this is written on the Japanese site, the English version could be better translated as "Notice about the entry of credit card details" or something along those lines. The actual notice is that they will pre-auth your card a small amount to confirm it's valid when adding it to a Pocket Concierge account. The slight mistranslation is because the same Japanese word can mean either "register/registration" or "entry" in English, depending on the context.

Paging @sudoer .

I'm planning to next month so I will let you know. From what i can tell all you do is book a restaurant through the pocket concierge app and then pay with your plat charge and then that's it. The credit should flow through.

Thank you. This is very informative. Can I say that all bookings need to be prepaid, like your case.

Can I say that all bookings need to be prepaid, like your case.

Yes, all Pocket Concierge bookings are prepaid, you need to select a course menu upfront and prepay that.

Regarding the reservation service at Pocket Concierge, as the payment happen beforehand, if way of payment changes, such us paying the course at the restaurants or changing the payer, the money charged beforehand will be refunded.

Besides, in order to prevent no-show or the cancellation on the day you visit, we only accept the beforehand payment.

1. We ask for your credit card information at reservation in order to pre-verify your account; the actual charging of costs will only occur after your reservation has been confirmed. In the case that a reservation fails to register, please rest assured that there will be no charge accrued.

2. Pre-verified cards allow for a smooth payment flow through our system; guests can forego paying the check day-of, avoiding the awkward wait-times associated.

3. Our online payment allows for reception of e-mailed receipts, a boon for those seeking to keep the tab a secret.
*Some restaurants may be unable to support this option.

I believe any additional items ordered (drinks etc) will get automatically charged to the card on file with Pocket Concierge also - but I will update you in about a month!

I've used this for lunch for my in-office days the last two weeks. The most recent one was at Meat & Wine Co Southbank, which is also part of Qantas' new points partnership.

So I got:
  • 3.000 QFF points per dollar, credited immediately (visible on account right after leaving restaurant)
  • 100% cashback from Amex (~Sat, for a charge Wed posted Fri)
  • standard Amex Plat earn (2.250ppd Membership Rewards -> 1.125ppd airlines)
