Amex Platinum $200 "Dining credit" towards a list of Global Restaurants

I've just come back from one of the restaurants in Sydney. The transaction has charged under the name of the hotel the restaurant is situated in, not the name of the restaurant itself. No email saying the offer has been triggered. Another call to AMEX tomorrow. I have found every aspect of this card incredibly frustrating. The experience and customer service certainly hasn't been worthy of the $1,450 annual fee.

I will be taking up AMEXs offer (through AFCA) to cancel the card and receive a pro-rata refund of the annual fee.

I'll be using the international dining credit in Singapore this week at one of the restaurants inside the Raffles hotel.. let's see how that pans out

Is the $200 Dining Local Restaurant credit redeemable for the purchase of gift card from the restaurants which sells them directly from the website.
I am looking to get some gift cards from Sake.

Purchase at your own risk.

If you are going to take a punt, I'd avoid purchasing on the website. If you go to the restaurant and buy in person the chances of triggering the promotion are substantially higher IMO.

Just to add to the Pocket Concierge experience, as explained upthread, everything is prepaid so depending on timing of your visit and when you made the reservation, you might get the credit before your visit which was my case. Booked two weeks in advance and credit received before I went to the restaurant.
Payment for any extras not part of the course (like drinks) will generally be automatically charged by Pocket Concierge so at the end of your meal, you just tell the restaurant you're done and walk out. I found out one place charged 770 yen for mineral water and 880 yen for sparkling water only afterwards when I saw the Pocket Concierge charges. Had I known we would probably have ordered more drinks for the same price but that's a restaurant issue anyways and nothing to do with Pocket Concierge. I believe some restaurants would ask you to pay the extras on the day though.
Also make sure that you are not paying for the reservation again at the restaurant. One time the waitress asked me to pay (didn't order any extras) so I told her I paid online already which she confirmed so sometimes they might miss that.

Dined at Grana in Circular Quay almost a month ago and it seems to have triggered the local $200 dining benefit credit - it posted to my statement today. Took me by surprise as Grana (and the rest of the Hinchcliffe House group) isn't listed in the Dining Benefit directory, but not complaining!

A nice surprise indeed sudoer! The timing you mention is a bit longer than my international spend in NZ took, though that was still a couple of weeks... which is why I was going to suggest CaptainCurtis wait to see if it comes through, but might be too late for that? (I didn't get an email to say it had been triggered or anything but was confident we'd spent it at the right place in NZ!)

Anyone know how long it takes to receive the credit for Australia Dining? And do we get a trigger email? So far nothing

Just been to Greece no restaurants at all there so pretty useless to me it should be use at any international restaurant
lots of plat charge card holders aren’t travelling at present so once again useless
Bangkok they are all in pokey areas and a lot get bad writeups
oh also most don’t accept Apple pay and I don’t carry the heavy metal card when travelling something you need to know if using your card for this offer.

Haven't read through the thread but does anyone know if there's good use for the international dining credit which expires at the end of the year if I have no overseas travel planned before then? I have trips to New York and London next year so maybe there's a way to purchase a gift card this year which will trigger the credit?

Worked very well for me both with a local Sydney restaurant (Aria, which in itself was a rather meh experience this time) and a restaurant in Bangkok (Blue Elephant, which was excellent).

I’m thinking the same thing for Paris if anyone is in places overseas please ask and advise here

Dined at Chin Chin almost a month ago. Charge came up in my account as Chin Chin Online and no credit. Amex have told me that the merchant isn't eligible. I'm into my second round of escalation with them over this
But it's on the list
