Can someone please explain to me why anyone would apply through a referral when that would net 60k versus applying without a referral and getting 80k ?

Only reason I can think of is if you are very kind and want to give your friend the 20000 points!

Just as likely is that most people are bad at research and if a friend referred them they would think they are getting a good deal and wouldn't check the alternate options. Why would you?

Then why would someone sign up through a referral and give up 20k points ?
Or I missing something ?
You wouldn't but previously offers have been as good or better via the referral method plus your referrer gets points.

When you referred her on this card on this specific offer ?
Was was it another time/card/offer ?
Another time, another place. These deals change all the time, it may well come back and don't count on it being adverised, you just need to check regularly!

If you have already signed up for the Platinum and you are a Chartered Accountant, sign up for the Platinum Reserve through the Chartered Accountants website.

I have confirmed by calling up that this card will also be complimentary and the offer on the Chartered Accountants website at the moment is a $250 David Jones Gift Card[SUP]3[/SUP] if you apply, are approved by 31 December 2013 and spend $500 on your Card Account within the first 2 months of becoming a Card member.

Anyone know how long you have had to not have platinum charge before you can reapply? 12 months would be my guess but not sure

When I cancelled mine late last year I was told that if I changed my mind within 60 days they would reinstate it, but after that it would be treated as a new application.
As it happens I reapplied about 4 months later and was accepted without fuss.

But did you receive sign-on bonus pts?

Has anyone applied for this ?
End date is June 15.

How long did it take for the bonus points to get credited ?
