Amex platinum Charge annual fee increase

Ok fair enough. I really like ascent premium however I don't think I can justify $1200 out of it...

If you're on Ascent Premium and you choose to drop back to Ascent (i.e. just the Platinum Credit card, or something like that), do your points transfer over?

I would like to know this as well. Anyone dropped from ascent premium to ascent before?

Yes, and they may give you an option to do one last QFF transfer. It is a freaky process, as it seems to be a multi day process and at one point it looks as though you've lost everything!

Thank you - as I'm considering transferring to Asia Miles, I don't need Ascent Premium. I'm looking at other policies at the moment to see if I can ditch the Amex Charge travel insurance policy.

I can't find the application form for the Marco Polo program on their site either. Even worse: I can't find any way to sign up for the programs (except for the bonus offers).
Bit surprised with the massive fee increase. Especially since I never received the complementary Platinum Reserve Credit Card (got refused for no reason - thought that was strange). Paying a hefty 300A$ more and not receiving all the benefits up to now seems unfair.

If somebody has the link to the application form - feel free to share....

I think they got rid of the form. Just go to the lounge section under platinum travel. It will have a link there where you can select Marco Polo or one of the hotel program's.

Nope..nothing there as far as I can see... at least not on my page. Did a Firefox search on the page, but no luck at all.

It's still there... just follow this link and sign in > http://www.americanexpress.com.au/platinum

... then under "Have you got everything?" click on "Benefit Check>>" and then "Partner Programs ENROLMENT REQUIRED" and look for the Cathay Pacific’s Marco Polo Club section!

Is the transfer rate to Spg 2:1 or 1:1?

Hi - I only meant for the 1:1 ratio to be next to the airline partners (except AirNZ).
SPG is definitely 2AMEX:1SPG
And for completeness: Thai transfer ratio is 4AMEX : 3 THAI, Air NZ is 100AMEX : 1 AIRPOINTS

Wasn't meant to cause any confusion.
If SPG ratio ever gets better - then this AMEX card would become seriously popular and exciting, and IMO make up for the $300 increase anyday!

One of the key features of the AMEX is the ability to transfer to SPG, and then SPG onto a seriously huge list of airline partners. I'll be interested if there is any other card in Aust that can do that?

Thai is 1:1 with Amex. Diners I think can also transfer to SPG

You are correct on Thai is 1:1
Serves me right to post at 1am after a long day.

It appears the ratios for airline transfer has gotten better over the years - could be suitable for another thread.

Here is the official link to the transfer rates;

Though I don't think Diners goes to SPG; only to Qantas (based on their website). You get SPG Gold upgrade, just like AMEX Plat.
Diners Club Australia
- actually I don't know anyone who has a Diners these days.

There is a non QF option for diners as well. And you can definitely transfer to SPG.
