AMEX Platinum Charge Benefits - Q&A

I have no idea how they Chubb, would work out what points were used for the actual flight booking.

They just want to see the last four digits of your Amex for payment of the tax component apparently.

Several members on AFF reported not needing to show evidence of the points source.

i’ve had the same for delay claims. Problem is, let’s see Chubb’s approach after we’ve spent a few weeks in a US hospital and need to be flown home … bet a different agent handles that claim.

For anyone wondering if they got a survey, search your inbox for the following email around 10am Tuesday morning.

I did get a survey, but for some reason whenever I get surveys from AmEx it's about the Platinum Reserve card, which I barely use. No questions about fees but a lot of questions about which other cards I use and why. As always I mentioned the foreign exchange fees as a big reason when I direct spend to another card.

Did the survey sometime last week. No matter how much they increase the AF (I think there're three possible price tags in the survey), I selected "Definitely would", indicating I would hold the card regardless. Too good to let it go🤣Maybe it's cardholders like me who have emboldened Amex AU to some extent?

PS: Attaching my answer to the question regarding the benefits currently offered with the Platinum Card. "If you had 100 points to allocate across these benefits, to represent how valuable they are to you, how would you allocate them?". I remember I spent the longest time answering this question (partly because I did take the survey seriously). screencapture-survey-us-confirmit-wix-aspx.PNG

We should all get a giftcard for taking this survey seriously and doing that much maths :)

I'll give a few more "0" to some of the questions. Of course everyone benefit is a personal preference

There's some stuff there I wouldn't even describe as a benefit, more like a standard service you'd expect of these thing. Stuff like "customer service and fraud support" or "booking via AmEx Travel Online portal".

Of course you'd expect a credit card to come with fraud support and a travel provider to have online booking, these aren't benefit as such.

I genuinely struggle now to see benefits. I put a lot through the card (mix of personal and business) at around 150k a month. They kept dropping my limit from around 180k down to 40k and then today at 26k even though every payment has been early on the account. Credit wont even discuss and just say I need a business card. Yet the business card had almost no benefits.

The question for big spenders like yourself: where else are you going to go?

Time to get a business card, otherwise they might do FR and eventually close your personal account. Because 150k a month does look suspicious on a personal card, if you only earn (or report) an annual income around 100k, or even under 1m. Their business cards do have a lot of "other" benefits, like up to 99 supplementary card, each of which provides complementary lounge access, travel insurance, etc. I would personally recommend the QBR one and the Platinum Business. Also, if you hold the Platinum Business and Platinum Personal at the same time, there's a way to reduce your total AF by quite a lot.

The question for big spenders like yourself: where else are you going to go?

It is a question as most cap out at around 12k a month in points. Multiple cards like ANZ Black etc could work and we can easily have the limits in 4 cards total.

Id be okay with that, but I dont want the doubling of fees. I'm not paying 1.7k + for a card which gets no benefits really and actually less than I have on the platinum.

Id be more incline to make a 20k payment every few days

Lol what a lame list of benefits. Surprised they didn’t include “ability to pay your bill” or “excessive foreign currency fees” as benefits.
