Or do you have a professional affiliate card
Not a professional affiliate. The fee was charged OCT 1 and I have a travel credit of $300 posted which is due to expire 4/9/19. Im presuming thats the plat card as I also have the edge and the Plat Reserve but pretty sure they are $200 and $400 credits.

From memory, the new fee only kicks in for renewals from Nov so I think you are right in that the $300 is for the Charge. So everyone before then gets a bit of a discount as the only difference is the $150 increase in travel credit but a $250 increase in fees.

My annual fee kicks in on 9th November, so unfortunately I am in the first batch of the higher fee.

Is it possible to use the virgin lounges with this card upon arrival? No other virgin status

I guess if it's a day trip only then should be straight forward as you'd have the boarding pass for the return

Good question. T&Cs don't specify

Virgin Australia Lounges. Access is complimentary for Primary Platinum Card Member and one complimentary guest only. The Primary Platinum Card Member and guest must be travelling with Virgin Australia domestically. Access is to Virgin Australia-branded lounges in Australia only. Name on boarding pass must match the name on the Platinum Card. The Platinum Card Member and guest must present his or her valid Card and same-day departing flight boarding pass (containing your Virgin Australia Velocity Frequent Flyer number and status) to Virgin Australia lounge agents. One guest per Primary Platinum Card Member permitted, children are classified as a guest. Guest must be travelling on same Virgin Australia flights and present boarding pass. All access is subject to space availability. This benefit is subject to change.

I read it somewhere arrival lounge is only applicable for Gold and Platinum velocity members. Even *A gold dont get arrival lounge.

But I'd be departing the same day, just heeeaaaps later.
Think it could work for a day trip

I’ve used the lounge on this card about 3-4hrs before my flight and didn’t have any problems - whether that can be extrapolated to 7hrs+ I’m not sure. Certainly worth a shot though.

So Amex do away with discounted cards with professional associations and I lose my Law NSW $900 Ann Fee Card - ann fees will increase to align with other Plat cards:

My annual fee just got charged to my car and is showing $1200.
And mine too during the week - $1,200 levied to Card - bit hard to follow.

This is not news though. My EA card was $950 and is rising to $1200, the same $250 increase as non-association cards.

I'm closing my account shortly so won't be paying another annual fee anyway.

Sounds like there are some changes afoot. Not yet made it to AMA cards. Platinum Charge still listed at $1200 with 100K signup bonus.

As of a couple of weeks ago the CPA Platinum was still being offered with 100,000 points $1200. Now I can't find it available at all - just the Edge.
