The Plat Egde has a 5k sign up bonus which rises to 10k if you use a referral link. It's fee free 1st year and $195 each year after that.

You do get a free flight to limited destinations on VA each year which helps offset the annual fee.

As for Krisflyer, a quick look shows 110k points Syd-SIN return in J, 65k from Perth, so it's dependent on where you're based.

Who do you get the gift cards through? I use Entertainment book and buy WISH cards, 5% discount and 3ppd...im about to confirm the 3ppd still exists as i just bought 1k BIG W card for my girlfriends sister in law so when it posts im hoping to see 2850 points.

so essentially, 100k points reqired, (or 83.5k atm )

so I have to spend 83-100k $ at the normal places to get a return SG business class flight

seems much better value then my qff where 100k spend would mean 150k points, which wouldnt be enough for biz class return!

But if they have more offers like that this year it will assist in bumping points, also 2ppd at servos providing you don't use the GCs there as well.

I'm no gun, this site makes it pretty easy if you're willing to spend a bit of time having a browse lot's of knowledgeable people sharing here for noobs like myself to pick up the tactics on.

Entertainment Book allows you to buy them with Amex and considers it a supermarket so you get the best of both worlds.

I found a site that gives a run down of all credit cards in Aust. It said minimum for Amex Platinum Edge is $3000 max $50000. It appeared to be current info as it had current sign on bonus info. But, it may not be correct.

We don't have another Amex.

Amex gave me $3k limit on Edge so looks like I got the min. Will need to transfer a limit from another card.

I left it blank, they sent out a small limit 5.3k and have subsequently offered 2 increases in the past few months which i ignored.
Nope, applied and someone called me to get details ie licence to verify identity, i think they say up to 10 days or so but happened within a couple.
As above, a couple of days.
I think you can book the first flight once your annual fee is paid as in charged to the account and paid, in the case of the first year free i'd guess that would mean once youve paid the first statement still.

There was no follow up from Amex at all, it felt very strange, the only contact was the approval screen after submitting the appl. and an instant sms saying that the card was approved. The card arrived within 4 business days.

Just to clarify as a NOOB with Plat edge this card??.... I book and use the free flight this year and book a flight for next year before expiry/anniversary date of card. Therefore can get two flights for annual year free on card?
If you have booked the second flight and cancel the card you still get the second flight????
