Yes, ask for points compensation to offset the $$$.
great card & I wouldn't even consider getting rid of mine given the flight and statement credits. I'd get more of them if I could..

I received the bonus with the Priceline spend and there is no annual fee on my first statement. I already have the Velocity Platinum and disclosed this on the application.

I am in almost the exact situation (already had Velocity Platinum, applied for Plat Edge via Priceline deal) as you, except I did this back in November 2015 and I got my bonus points for the Plat Edge, despite having declared already having another AMEX (Velocity Platinum) and having received bonus points for it.

You used to when Amex had QF as a partner, when they downgraded to VA they did away with points unfortunately.

Downgraded to VA. Ouch (on behalf of VA) haha

Went perfect. Received the card as well as letter that states they knew my existing card (I declared on the application). The offer letter with the card clearly stated first year annual fee is $0. Also spent the $200 at Priceline and got the bonus.

Does anyone know if you pay an AGL Gas bill via this card using PAYPAL will this incur any credit card fee or does PAYPAL make it $0.00?

Flight booked.
Finding Amex exceptional service compared to any other card I have!
Even to the extent they acknowledged longer than usual wait time(before I said anything) and apologised!!!
Have to 6pm tonight to change anything on ticket for Free.
Any changes after that cost $107.

I have had the Plat Edge for some years now and book 2 flights for mrs prozac and self every 2nd year.

Toothbrushes don't go off. New evidence indicates sunscreen looses effectiveness but also accumulates bugs and things which could cause skin infections etc. Recommendation is to replace after 12 months. Hair product. That might spark your imagination for other items toward your $200.
