Amex Platinum Edge Extra Points Offer With Referral.

I received an email today offering an extra 5,000 bonus points for family and friends thinking of getting the Amex Platinum Edge credit card. By using the below referral link, you will get 15,000 points, instead of 10,000 without it, if your application is successful. I will also receive 10,000 bonus points, if you are successful.

Here is the link:- https://www316.americanexpress.com/...merHub&genCode=349992037351473&CPID=100176850

The benefits are pretty well documented on this forum, but the highlights are as follows:-

I've had this card for a couple of years now and it's a good one for earning points, particularly for supermarket/petrol shopping.

If you have any questions, I am happy to answer them (if I can).

Cheers,
robd.

Just made another booking using the "free flight' from this card. MEL-BNE return less than 2 weeks away - flights cost on VA $458. So for the 2 flights that I have booked in the last 2 years, the value (less the annual fee) has exceeded $700 just on the flights alone. Considerably more if you include the statement credits throughout the year.

Re: Amex Platinum Edge Extra Points Offer With Referral.

Here's my referral link for the platinum edge! You'll receive a 15,000 point sign-on bonus (and I"ll receive 10,000).

https://www316.americanexpress.com/...BA6D20AAC&mgmerSource&MGMURN=AAAABgQSHQ4eFQ==

Most on here would know the benefits by now, but to summarise:
1) Free domestic return flight per year with Virgin Australia, which can be redeemed for yourself or somebody else. More than pays for the $195 annual fee I feel!
Platinum Edge

2) Great earning potential at supermarks (3 points per dollar) and petrol stations (2 points per dollar)
Combine this with the local champion app for an extra 1 point per dollar (4 points/$ at Coles and 3 points/$ at my local BP is great) a
3) Complimentary travel insurance

Thanks a lot!

Re: Amex Platinum Edge Extra Points Offer With Referral.

I can confirm that the Plat Edge card is sensational card for earning and travel. With regular supermarket and petrol purchases - almost any brand petrol and most supermarkets incl. IGA. - your account will quickly build. I always rely on the included travel insurance when travelling and renting hire cars. I will happily answer any questions regarding earning and tips if you pm me.

Re: Amex Platinum Edge Extra Points Offer With Referral.

Was just browsing the referrals forum when I stumbled across this thread.
Great card, but I don't think these referrals are particularly good value.
Much better value in my opinion is the priceline platinum edge. Link <redacted> for those unaware of the promo.
All up you get only 1500 points less but don't have to pay the $195 annual fee in the first year. Granted you need to spend $200 at priceline to get the points, but essentially you're getting $200 worth of free stuff compared to applying via one of our referral links.
So, $200 of free stuff & 1500 less points. :)

Anyhoo, I do have a regular referral link if people would like to use it. I just don't think it's the best value at the moment.

Errrr... I did post my referral link for the exact card listed in the title of this thread. It seems to have been redacted by someone though for some reason?
I only mentioned that I didn't think it was the best value at the moment...

Re: Amex Platinum Edge Extra Points Offer With Referral.

The Platinum Edge is getting a bit neglected amongst all the excitement over the Velocity Platinum bonus, but I think this card is still the best in the country for ongoing spend:

15,000 Membership Rewards points when you spend $500 in first 2 months (compared to 10,000 without referral)
3 MR per $1 at supermarkets
2 MR per $1 at petrol stations
0.5 MR per $1 on utilities, ATO, Australia Post and other government spend
1 MR per $1 on everything else
Free Virgin Australia return domestic flight each year (unlike the Virgin Platinum card, this includes Perth-East Coast (although not vice-versa unfortunately).
See here for a map of available destinations
$195 annual fee

I receive 10,000 MR for the referral, which are vital to me maintaining a long-distance relationship with my fiancée between Australia and the UK!

Referral link is here. Expires 31 October 2015.

Re: Amex Platinum Edge Extra Points Offer With Referral.

Just want to throw my link out here, I am happy to assist with any questions you may have!

I currently have the Amex Plat Edge and Citi Sig combo and happy to share any tips /advice on maximising your points!

As mentioned by others in the thread, you get an addition 15,000 points! And I as the referrer get 10,000.

Annual fee of $195 but anyone living in Perth would have this cost easily covered by the yearly free domestic flight! I recently booked a trip to Syd what would have cost $800+!

Thanks in advance for any of you kind souls!

Re: Amex Platinum Edge Extra Points Offer With Referral.

Do you still qualify for sign up bonus if you hold the Plat charge card?

Do you want to give it a crack? PM me. I know of others who claim to have been successful.

I believe some people have had success signing up their second amex card and still getting the sign on bonus.

I don't have the Plat Charge myself so can't comment but I have recently signed up for the Velocity Platinum and hope to get the 110k bonus points despite already holding a Plat Edge.
