Re: Amex Platinum Edge Extra Points Offer With Referral.

I applied last week for this card and was instantly approved, which I'm very excited about (I should probably get out more I know!). I'm excited because I believe that this is a really good card, in my opinion, it is one of the best in the market today, if not the best. In terms of value for money this card is really really hard to beat. If you're keen to apply too, an updated referral link is HERE!

Whilst you might not agree with my assessment, here are the main reasons I believe this is one of the best Australian credit cards and why you will easily recoup the $195 annual fee:

  • 3 points per dollar on grocery spend- an easy one to start with! Everyone buys groceries and 3 points per dollar is an excellent earn rate on this spend. If you combine this with judicious gift card purchases from you local supermarket you can really maximise this. There's an excellent thread on that topic here.
  • 2 points per dollar on fuel - again like groceries, most people buy fuel - why not earn maximum points for this.
  • Free domestic return flight on Virgin Australia (value to me $400+ - easily pays for the annual fee alone!) - Destinations List Here
  • 15,000 Bonus Membership Rewards Points - via a referral link - based on my numbers I value this at $375+ (that's the first years annual fee covered right there!)
  • Points can be transferred to massive variety of partners (no program "lock in") - Virgin Velocity, Emirates Skywards, Etihad Guest, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and some more valuable ones via SPG (AAdvantage, BA Executive Club & US Airways Dividend Miles etc)
I churn credit cards quite frequently and as such, I don't think there are many perennial keepers in the Australian credit card market place at the moment. With one exception, the AMEX Platinum Edge, given the free flight pays for the annual fee each year - this credit card is bound to be in my wallet for sometime to come!

UPDATED REFERRAL LINK: NOW Expires 2 February 2016. You receive 15,000 Membership Rewards points if you spend $500 in the first two months - updated referral link HERE!

Quick Card Summary (as per the other posts):

  • 15,000 Membership Rewards bonus points if you apply by 2 February 2016, are approved and spend $500 on your new Card within the first 2 months of Card Membership.
  • Free domestic return flight every membership year - details can be found HERE
  • Earn 3 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at major supermarkets
  • Earn 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at major petrol stations
  • Earn 1 Membership Rewards point per dollar spent on all other purchases excluding utilities, insurance (except those issued by American Express), telecommunication providers and government bodies in Australia where you earn 0.5 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent
  • Complimentary comprehensive domestic and international travel insurance when you pay for travel on your card you will receive
Membership Rewards Transfer Partners (highlights):

  • Virgin Australia Velocity Points 1:1
  • Singapore Airlines Krisflyer Miles 1:1
  • Cathay Pacific Asia Miles 1:1
  • Malaysia Airlines Enrich Miles 1:1
  • Starwood Preferred Guest Starpoints (Good for AAdvantage, BA Executive Club, US Airways Dividend Miles) 2:1

Happy to take PM's with any questions on the card. If you are interested in what effect apply for another credit card might have on your credit score, or if you are a bit worried you might not be successful, you may find this thread I started helpful.

My Referral link is HERE, for anyone kind enough to use my link, my heart felt thanks, the points will be put to good use by my wife and I on a belated baby moon!

Re: Amex Platinum Edge Extra Points Offer With Referral.

I won't copy and paste all the benefits, but just outline that this card is huge value for those who live in Perth.

It allows you to book a PER-SYD fare which is often $600+ return for the tiny annual fee of $195.

Here is my referral link if you are interested.

Happy to help you via PM if you want!

Re: Amex Platinum Edge Extra Points Offer With Referral.

With the offer being extended I thought I'd update my review for this great card. Like all my AMEX apps, it was an incredibly smooth process and I was instantly improved. In my opinion, this is one of the best credit card in the market today, if not the best. In terms of value for money this card is really really hard to beat. If you're keen to apply too, the current offer expires 31st May 2016, an updated referral link is HERE!

• Free domestic return flight on Virgin Australia (value to me $400+ - easily pays for the annual fee alone!) -Destinations List Here
  • 15,000 Bonus Membership Rewards Points - via a referral link - based on my numbers I value this at $350+ (that's the first years annual fee covered right there!)
I churn credit cards quite frequently and as such, I clearly don't think there are many perennial keepers in the Australian credit card market place at the moment. With two exceptions (both AMEX cards), one of which is the AMEX Platinum Edge, given the free flight pays for the annual fee each year (pretty much where ever you travel on the network) - this credit card is bound to be in my wallet for sometime to come!

UPDATED REFERRAL LINK: NOW Expires 31 May 2016. You receive 15,000 Membership Rewards points if you spend $500 in the first two months - updated referral link HERE!

While I can definitely not compete with the comprehensiveness of the last post, especially given I'm posting this from my iPhone.. I can certainly say without a doubt that I agree with the positive reviews of this card. It's fantastic. And using the iOS Amex app and enrolling in Local Champion, you can end up getting an extra point per dollar at your most frequented retailers. 4 points per dollar at your local supermarket! You can't get better than that.

Here is my link, so you can get 15,000 points on signup. Any points I earn with this referral will help get my wife, baby son and I up to Brisbane to visit my sister!

http://amex.com.au/refer/michaz4GDO?CPID=100199911

Should anyone feel kind enough to let Amex gift me 10k and take up a bonus 15,000 points for themselves, please feel free to use my link.

Don't forget, if you want to visit PER a few times, you can book PER-MEL/SYD-PER and then nest a paid cheapy to get a two-for-one deal effectively :)

Get a bonus 15,000 points with the Platinum Edge Card by clicking here!

Forgot to mention, this link should be good through end of May, 2016!

curious to know how quickly reward bonus points hit people's accounts once they hit the $550 spend. ive surpassed that amount and no sign of the 15,000. wondering if its my currently held amex cards that are the issue here.
