Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

I just received notification of my successful UpgradeMe bid (money, not points) on the first leg of my PER-SYD red-eye redemption flight :), so there are upgrade options potentially.

I don't think this upgrade will attract SC or FF points though as the original booking doesn't include these - interested in your feedback on this.

True, I was more concerned about getting a comfy seat :). I'm just on the verge of making Silver, which doesn't really seem to offer too many perks - if I was chasing Gold then I might be more concerned. I'll report back on if it gets me anything (I guess the ticket was modified/updated/reissued by Virgin after the UpgradeMe bid, so maybe the no SC flag on the economy part might have been lost if I'm lucky, haha).

I just completed my online check-in and the A330 has been swapped out for one with the old-style seats :(. I've been checking all the time until the UpgradeMe bid closed at the seat availability (dummy booking, I know not an exact science), and it was showing the new "The Business" seat layout the whole time, and still showed me that layout when I chose my seat after the successful UpgradeMe bid. A shame.

Silver is good for the free baggage I think?

The old seats are still great. Much better than Y, you have made the right choice!

So the bonus 110k points is finished now?

I only see Bonus 50k on their website.

80,000 if you use a referral link. You will find them in the referral section.

4) upgrade option is unavailable to me on complementary flight. I'm only a lowly red status though.

10Q psi999 - doesn't really surprise me but you have to ask :)

As expected, the flight appeared on my velocity activity as "Not Valid For Earn", so that flag wasn't lost when the UpgradeMe bid was successful and my ticket reissued.

Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

I signed up mid Oct, spent the min $500. How long does it take to get my 80k velocity points? Also the points for spending money on the card? Cheers.2015-11-04 17.20.30.jpg

Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

Points transfer to VFF every month, usually a few days before your statement. The bonus tends to be in the first months transfer but youd have to check the Ts&Cs for exact details.

Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

My bonus points posted the day after reaching the required $1000 spend and transferred to Velocity on the next transfer date, which is the day my account opened (5th of month.)

In practice, the bonus points post once you hit $500 spend :)

Mine was as per the title: 110,000 points, $349pa, $1000 spend.

I used a referral link from here but can't recall whose, but thank you anonymous benefactor and thank you to the AFF community for bringing this offer to my attention.

Can anyone confirm if they received the 15% bonus?
