ANA partnership with Virgin Australia

I looked on the VA web site and my wished-for route ICN-KIX isn't there (ANA fly it - 3 x daily).
ANA don’t fly between Seoul and Osaka, which probably explains it’s absence online. They do fly 3x daily between Seoul (Gimpo) and Tokyo (Haneda) though.

D'oh!! 🤦‍♂️ I found this on the ANA web site, so called Velocity, but overlooked the 'operated by Asiana' bit.

It's OK, I'll go and have another G&T now ... 😖 (and GMP-HND doesn't come up on the VA web site - rats.)

At least someone testing this VA ANA partnership out.

Hm VAANA or ANAVA, few A's there. Maybe no more GnT's for moi.
Or
ANAVA GnT.

Guessitmate, that as VFF and ANA are in an agreement, but not a full *A alliance to alliance membership, VFF can be quite picky on what they will accept, ie, they might not accept the cheaper fares on NH.
There might also be no tie in for the fare class, that NH will sell on Japan dom fares, but for which VFF does not have the fare code on their system.
VFF might only have some of the 26 alpha codes, re fare class, NH might have more code designators.
Hard to say tho, as to why VFF would not accept that NH Japan dom flight class.

Yes, they really buried the lede on this one.

They're on the top partner table, with United and Virgin Atlantic. Notably the email mentions that First awards are available on ANA but that table doesn't include a First level (since UA and VS don't have it).
I could have sworn they were on the top table too.. but they're clearly not now. Did it change? Was this a stuff up?

Sounding more like it was a stuff-up. ANA would've been considered a supporting partner alongside AC and HA (just below the 'Big 3' of QR, UA and SQ) in VA/Velocity, but above the 'secondary partners' of HNA, Etihad, SAA, et al.

All the effort, and for 2 to travel Y, with no lounge of the own, or a V lounge either in SYD/PER.
Travelling Y on the return, also no lounge.
Nak, not interested.

Doesn’t interest me either but there would be plenty who are struggling or don’t travel much who would think all their Christmas’s have come at once and wouldn’t know or care about all the other stuff

Has anyone booked a reward seat yet then? Looks like HND-SYD just slots into zone 6 on the reward chart (by 37 miles!), but would be good to know for sure if anyone has booked. Plus if reward availability does look like it matches what united shows.

I've seen SYD-HND-FRA but nothing to the US from SYD via HND. Perhaps married segments.

Yes
NH availability on UA matches what VA can see.

I've booked;
HNL-NRT (flying Honu!)
HND-SYD
Both in J, both wonderful flights. Stoked about this partnership!

A bit of PER<>NRT availability in the next few weeks has popped in, including a tiny bit in J, but nothing further out. Wonder what the release pattern of this will be, this is one of my aspirational redemptions at the moment for VA points.
