ANA partnership with Virgin Australia

Has Velocity/ANA recently locked awards redemptions to Aus only routes? Browsing seats.aero I cant find any redemptions in any class for USA, Europe and Asia for NH and Velocity, but they do show up in United and Aeroplan

Interesting observation.

We'll contact Velocity and ask what's going on with the availability not showing on the Virgin Australia website.

In the meantime, have you tried booking over the phone using Velocity Points?

I'm trying to structure a trip using a combination of QFF and VFF points - I am trying to find a simple SIN to NRT / HND reward flight 9 months away - nothing to be found (not even economy!) via VFF?!

Wait that's strange theres loads of NH and SQ flights I can see on Aeroplan for Oct 2025. Even if NH isn't available, SQ should have been.

@Mattg maybe ask about SQ as well.

Seems to be a weird block on Japan as a destination on VFF website. USA to Japan shows no flights at all, weird since both United and ANA have award availability elsewhere. Moreso, it'll let you fly ANA USA to Singapore via Japan!

I also think the direct flights bug is still affecting Asian destinations as you can only book flights with connections on UA,SQ and NH to SIN, HKG etc but there is zero direct availability.

I would have thought so too (at least some SQ options), but nothing at all showing for me (maybe because I'm only Red?):

Looking at the rest of the year as well, there's zero availability.

If I change the search to Seoul (I know it's not Japan, but just for comparison), all of a sudden there's lots of SQ availability:

Speaking of that, is there an "easier" way to filter out business reward seats on the VFF website, rather than clicking day-by-day, flight-by-flight? Something similar to Qantas' calendar and class view?

Oh I've found the perfect way to visualise the issue using seats.aero, these graphs show total available reward seats for the SFO-HND or SIN-HND on a given day and you can see availability plummets to 0 on the 16th and 26th of December. Seems very much like a bug, little surprised how long its been going on for!
