As of tonight, I hit 1004SCs and clocked over to Platinum.

Congrats Liam! I took a flight Monday night, which credited Wednesday and I hit 1007 status credits. The status had changed to Platinum by Thursday morning. Looks like I beat you by 1 day and 3 status credits!

i'd love to see a poll, with voting if possible on how many status points you've earned for the year.
i.e

0-400
400-800
800-1200
1200-2000
2000-3000
3000-4000
4000+

Thoughts? Would be interesting in understanding how much people fly/SC's, i'm a very frequent flyer, would love to know how many people really collect?

My first flight since the new status and very happy thus far

First my seat selection was in row 5 when I checking in online. No bad but!!!

Then as I was boarding the flight they changed my seat selection to row 3, getting better Then as I am in flight and the seat belt sign is still on they come up to me and tell me to go into row 2 as I will be more comfortable and have the row to myself, premimum economy seats!!! Great

Then and just now. What would you like sir. Coffee is the response. Anything else? No thanks, are you sure because we are not charging you today. Love it And then and just now again they bring my coffee out and give me a cookie!!!
What a great start to the day.

Nice. I'm looking forward to my first flight as a Virgin Platinum

I made the booking yesterday for later this fortnight, i've got to do DRW - SYD - CBR - MEL - DRW, which I would normally do QF in J, but my SC reset soon so:

a) no point earning QF SC's when I have no chance of getting to WP1 anytime in the next month

b) I think VA have earned my business.

Strangely enough the girl couldn't find a PE seat all the way through, so booked normal Y so we'll see what happens.

Looking forward to it!





And yes. This is what QF will be dreading at the moment... I've just voted with my feet and moved a $6000+ airfare from QF to VA (and saved about $3000!)

I'd be interested to see how many miles/flights/hours it took you to get to Plat with DJ/VA if you wouldn't mind sharing it?

As comparison, for me to achieve QFF WP last year for the first time, flying -Y it took me 195,000 miles/62 flights/534 hrs BIS. I'm wondering if I'd be better off with DJ/VA?

i will see, don't forget it different now. prior you got bonus points and no suck thing as status points. So now i get bonus points but there is no extra on status points. Need to work it out, basically will take me about 3 flights per month return to melboure and its done. shooting to 2000 points by April ish.. wife will be happy

Made it to Platinum the "not so difficult" way - mostly through long haul flying, which is definitely easier on the system than short haul. Am yet to take a flight as Platinum; looking forward to it!
