Andorra

I have a few days out of Barcelona next August and am thinking of driving up to Andorra and eastern Pyranees.

Does anyone have accommodation recommendations, or little 'must see' places?

Did you end up going there in 2017 @JessicaTam ?

I do remember it but admit I had forgotten all about it. I was a bit of a Seeger fan.

Now back on topic. We didn't go to Andorra but I would consider going the long way to Andorra via the Pyrenees. We went to Canfranc and I felt it worth the detour. Between there and Andorra is the Col Du Pourtalet. Used in Le Tour but much more frequently from the Spanish side in the Vuelta. It was recently featured in a TR by @Jaques Vert.

Next we were heading to Jaca on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees and there are basically two mountain passes that could be considered: the Col de Bessata and the Col du Pourtalet. The Bessata route goes from Pau via Oloron-Sainte-Marie and Canfranc and is the route that the railway line used until it was closed in 1970 after a major derailment destroyed one of the bridges. Canfranc is reached from the french side through the 7.8km Somport tunnel. The station at Canfranc was featured in one of Michael Portillo's Great Continental Railway...

The mountain scenery is great. Canfranc has a very impressive history and the huge Railway station which has been converted into an upmarket hotel. But many small Independent hotels as well.

It would be a quick run from Andorra to BCN.
