Another A380 problem

JB, This had me thinking (yes, its that time the year again). When flying an aircraft like the A380 or 744 without passengers, do you have any cabin crew on board as well? Or are you left to fend for yourselves in the galley when you want to eat or have a coffee etc?

Do you use an F suite for the rest break or the usual crew rest area?

Depends upon how far we are going. There are a couple of ferries per week between Melbourne and Sydney, and that's just done with two pilots (and a third if it is being used for a route check). Longer ferries will generally give you one cabin crew member, not only to make the coffee, but to keep an eye on the cabin. In this case we had a full crew, as they simply had to be transported home.

You can use an F suite or the normal rest as you wish, though the suites may not be powered up.

A question I had do you ever carry cargo on the ferry flights?

I don't think they do on the Mel/Syd ones that happen each week, but I've done plenty of longer ferries on which the hold was full, and the weight right up there.
