Well I can curse myself for being efficient and booking next year's Circle Asia fare in J and a Yokoso fare last week. :(

I would have saved over $600.

Hmm, tempting, but I wonder where the cheapest DONE3/4's originate these days?

South Korea and Indonesia seem to be off the list ever since the price hikes there - so is it South Africa now? Is it even possible to book an ex-JNB itinerary on a DONE4 that includes Australia, or does it have to be a DONE5?

Will be interested to see what impact this sale has. :)

South Africa works for me. Only last week I booked a DONE4 departing WDH (Windhoek, Namibia) that includes a stop in Sydney. It came out at a very respectable $8,117 including the booking fee.

.... and another 10% of would be great.

The OWE online booking engine now reflects the 10% discount (at least ex-SA).

Now to find the AA desk there... :)

booked and paid for my DONE$ last week and now trying to see if I can take advantage of the 10% sale...TA says needs to cancel booking/ticket and then start again but this will cost the 5.5% refund penalty which drops the savings to about $400.00...As the sale fare is a sale fare a reissue would not be possible at the lower sale fare price...Has anyone had any success in changing an already paid business class fare to the new fare ?...Any advice would be very much appreciated

I guess the one thing you would need to be wary of is whether the availability will still exist or not when you re-ticket.

I have an unpaid unticketed DONE4 reservation and my TA is working out whether she has to cancel and rebook.

I did have another DONE4 unpaid and unticketed when the 10 week sale occurred earlier this year and that would also have required cancellation and rebooking (which I chose not to do due to difficulties in getting A class flights in the US). It is always a gamble when one cancels A and D class seats as to whether they return to the same fare bucket.

I'll report back when TA gets back to me but I suspect that as per earlier this year, complete cancellation and rebooking will be required

By the way, after hearing the rumour on here I contacted my TA who phoned QF and their staff had no knowledge of the overnight fare drop. I think that QF (wholesale/travel agent help desk/whatever) sales staff will themselves get clarity towards the end of today as to exactly what is going on.

Just saw this on QF website:

"10 weeks for bookings made between 26 August and 3 November 2009"

Last time (ie April or whenever it was earlier this year) the ablve words meant "reservation started, finished paid for and ticketed" within this time window period.

Reservations which were partially commenced were, back in April, not elligible.

date change of the first segment doesnt work...qantas/ta wont reissue at the lower price and only at the original price...working with ta now but suspect I am cornered

Qantas and TA would only reissue at the sale price if the sale price was a permanent reduction !!!

Does this mean if I make changes after purchasing the fare post November I am up for an extra 10% + fees?

EDIT:

Qantas said:
If you make a change to the first flight segment after 3 November 2009, the 10% discount will no longer apply.

Easy done - just fly AKL-MEL/SYD then work out the rest later on.....

with respect to straitman and others I have checked the FT forum and have put those thoughts to Qantas and TA but those suggestions are currently being rejected forcing me to consider cancellation and booking a new ticket.
