I know there are so many RTW questions here, but I'm throwing another one out there.....

In May next year I have to get to DXB (I'm based in MEL). I've just been invited to IND immediately after my DXB trip, so instantly I thought about trying to make a RTW ticket out of the booking. Two months after the IND visit, I'll be FRA.

I got on the Oneworld tool today, and I can complete a DONE4 with DXB-LHR-DFW-IND-LAX-MEL-SIN-FRA-LHR-DXB. So I know that's possible, however getting cheap (and reasonable) positioning fares to DXB is the challenge. I tried to start the ticket in BKK or SIN, but that failed due to the MEL-FRA trip. Any thoughts on where else I could start from? Maybe somewhere where I can get a J* Starclass fare too?

Thanks!

Ben

I'm purely guessing but perhaps look at Garuda (if you dare). I don't even know if they fly to DXB but if they did I'd imagine it would be cheap. And maybe Royal Brunei.

3 options (if avoiding Yemenia, Garuda and any airlines of India/China) . But considering EK and EY are offering MEL-AUH/DXB fares for around $1100, not much savings to be had really.

Option 1
May 12
MEL-KUL Malaysian Airlines 12.15am-6.25am $477 (or EK 3.35am-8.30am $559) (or Air Asia 00.45am-7.00am $487)
KUL-DOH-DXB Qatar Airways 10.20am-5.05pm $498

Option 2
May 12
MEL-SIN JetStar 11.00am-4.50pm $432 (or EK 6.55pm-11.25pm $559)
SIN-AUH(DXB) Etihad 7.55pm-11.25pm $425
SIN-DOH-DXB Qatar Airways 2.25am-9.15am (or 9.00pm-3.10am) $452
SIN-CMB-DXB Sri Lankan Airlines 7.10am -4.20pm $365

Option 3
MEL-BKK JetStar 2.05pm-8.40pm $432
BKK-DOH-DXB Qatar Airways 1.55am-9.15am $513 (or Etihad BKK-AUH) 2.55am-6.20am $604
