Sunday and a sleep in.Thought it about time I went looking for a scallop pie.Off first to the Bizy Bee bakery at Invermay. One of the few open on Sunday. No scallop pies left.So a couple of pics from the area. One of the pubs and the Me Wah restaurant. .
And next to the UTAS stadium a memorial to workers dying on the job. .
Now a drive to Exeter bakery and fortunately got the last scallop pie. .. .
Theirs is a pretty nice pie and 9 scallops this time.I hadn't had brekkie so had a pastie as well.OK but not the best I have had. .
In the afternoon I walked to the Art gallery.I hadn't been before. It is free admission so well worth it.A few buildings on the way over.the Irish do have a sense of humour. . .
Unfortunately, like in Hobart, UTAS is on the move and is going to move in from Newnham and build itself over the Inveresk car-park (the site of the old round-house, turntable - look at the air view) and I think make the Tram museum move. All part of the former Vice Chancellor's Edifice Complex (google Peter Rathgen and see what you find ); much more fun to spend taxpayer's hard-earned building entirely new campuses in the city rather than the hum-drum of maintaining the existing campuses in the suburbs. Grrr.
The third weekend was freezing so I had a very lazy saturday.Slept in and got to the markets about 1100.Brunch was a Japanese breakfast omelette with bacon from here. .
A real production line. . .
Great veggies. .
I buy my cheeses here.Southern Sky. .
I drove the long way back to the hotel.A view of Launceston from the north east. . .
After dropping of my purchases I went to a tiny cafe just up the road - The Flying Sparrow cafe.A coffee was needed and i tried their pastie and a lemon curd tart. . .
Sunday and another sleep in before having a long lunch at Timbre restaurant.I intended to go for a walk in the Trevallyn Nature reserve after lunch.however I was way too full so back to the hotel for a nannay nap.Decidrdthough I really needed to do some walking so set out at dusk.Walked down to the Seaport. . . . . . . . . .
Monday I was having dinner at the Grain restaurant at the Silo hotel.just over the river from the Seaport. After the Sunday walk and because the hospital has blocked access to the stairwell so reducing my exercise I decided to walk there. And what a difference a day makes.Left a little earlier so still light at the start of the walk.
First the stroll down to the Tamar beside Royal Park. . .
And the oldest yacht club in the Southern hemisphere.Though obviously not the oldest club building.
