Can one of you sharp taswegians please advise if the cream ship in post 101 is the Old Cape Pillar ?

No this ship is the MV Wyuna. She has been waiting for a while to be taken back to Victoria.

Don has answered your question but I can understand your query. When I saw it I thought it might have been the Cape Don - a sister ship of Cape Pillar. I was able to zoom the image enough to see that it was actually the Wyuna.

Took a while..

She is now the KALYMNIAN EXPRESS , Liverstock Carrier, Panamanian Flag owned by Lafasi Shipping Panama

Now that is the top of y'all need to know list for the day I am sure……..

Must have been because of the wonderful photography. ;)

So after finishing at Seahorse world I went across to the platypus exhibit.now i have seen numerous platypus in the wild in tasmania so I did wonder whether it was worth it.but i decided to go and it was worth it.
As in the Seahorse Aquarium Platypus World runs hourly tours on the hour.It closes at 1530.I went in a little before 1500 and there was a 1500 tour.It turned out I was the only one on the tour.I think the guide enjoyed it as at least I knew a little about platypus and she was interested in where I had seen them.

We started off at the male enclosure.Only 1 male who just kept swimming. All the animals here are rescued. There is no breeding program though the male does have a direct entrance to one of the female tanks and has one female he always heads to.She did lay eggs one year but they didn't hatch.so here is the male.

20210626_151304.jpg.20210626_151306.jpg.

What I enjoyed was to see them underwater and the ability to photograph them underwater.
20210626_152402.jpg.20210626_152404.jpg.

And here is his female friend.
20210626_152419.jpg.

She was a lot easier to photograph underwater as a much smaller tank.
20210626_152508.jpg.

Though here she is having a good scratch.
20210626_152522.jpg.

There are two females in this tank.the second was a bit shy.The following photos show both of them.there are slight differences in their colouring.

20210626_153102.jpg.

The shy one often dived and hid under this log.
20210626_153144.jpg.

They also have Australia's other monotreme, the short beak echidna. It is also found in PNG along with 3 long beaked echidnas. They are all threatened there as they apparently are tasty.
There are 3 echidnas here, 1 male and 2 female.
20210626_153351.jpg.

They feed them on a tour. The male is always there first.
20210626_153432.jpg.

Now my guide puts out 3 plates of food. One for each animal.the male tucks in first.
20210626_153442.jpg.

But his favourite female goes to the plate furthest from him so he heads over there.
20210626_153500.jpg.

The lonely female just keeps eating but is joined by the male when the other 2 plates are finished.
20210626_153514.jpg.
20210626_153628.jpg.

The male though realised his favourite had finished so off he took in a chase all around the enclosure. The rejected female just licked all the dishes clean.

It was an enjoyable afternoon.better than i expected. But there is the cost.
Seahorses - Adult $25
Platypus. - Adult $23.
$2 off for concessions including seniors cards.

The seahorse aquarium has the better giftshop and snacks. There is meant to be a cafe there.I presume it is upstairs. Most young kids I think would find it an enjoyable time.
