Completed in-town check in at Hong Kong today (16th Feb 2025) for QF128 (yes, the flight that tonight is 4 hours delayed). Superduper impressed. There was a separate Qantas counter, and it seemed to be empty in comparison to Cathay's one on the right hand side. Once bags were tagged and scanned, app updated straight away.

Hopefully not a silly question but thought I’d ask for those considering to use city check-in, do they issue boarding passes there as well as accept baggage?

Yes, my boarding pass didn't print from the machine surprisingly which was weird but the service desk helped me out and got me one.

Unlike Taipei's intown check-in, once you are on the screen and tap your flight carrier, you get redirected to the flight carrier's UI: so the typical Qantas, Hong Kong Airlines or Cathay screens.

Source: took Cathay in-town earlier in the week, and took Qantas today.

Just think of it like you are at the airport.
