I've flown Finnair J from SIN-HEL and thought it was great, no problem recommending it to anybody!

Just did KIX - HEL-OSL yesterday in J - the Osaka to Helsinki leg was on the new full-flat A330- 2/2/1 and 1/2/1 configeration - so much space! Food and service was outstanding and so much was offered - they just kept on coming around with food (love the garlic bread :))- and you can even order your meals online (24hr before), including "Gourmet Meals" such as reindeer

You'd think QF would take a leaf out of Finnair's book and have a signature gourmet dish. Perhaps Neil Perry inspired grilled Kangeroo steaks? :p

Would have to be surf and turf crocodile kangaroo combo

I have flown Finnair within Europe a few times and found the J class pretty terrible. They do the same thing as BA - the J class is just an Y seat but with the middle seat blocked out so there are only two people in the row.

I imagine the long haul configuration is much better based on what people have said here.

Certainly their meals are better than BA on long haul. I flew Finnair Helsinki to. Bangkok economy, and it was good. Then BA Bangkok/Sydney premium economy - seats were ok, but breakfast was a cardboard box with a dried croissant, pepper/salt, yogurt and orange juice (don't know what the salt/pepper was for). Finnair still impresses me.

Have flown Finnar from a number of Asian ports after connecting with QF or CX. To be honest I've forgotten how many times but their J class product is extremely good if you get a good price. Never had a bad experience. A transit in HEL is extremely pleasant. The airport is easy to navigate and the lounge is more than adequate whether flying into or out of Europe.

I recommend them very highly. Watch out for specials as they are definitely worth it.

Reviving an old thread :)

SWMBO decided she wants to go to Europe in August and after some fiddling around I found some flights for AUD1564 return. Not bad for August travel in my opinion. QF to SIN then separate ticket AY to BRU via HEL. Now I have only flown J on AY (and never had a look down the back) so can anybody give some whY seat recommendations?
