Anyone planning to travel in 2021 ?

I'll be hoping for a trip to Dubai sometime in 2021 to see my son! I have Japan ski trip booked for Feb 2021, home via Shanghai - not sure if that will be going ahead if I can't get suitable travel insurance. My October 2020 trip to Europe won;t be rescheduled as it was for a special birthday event that won't be happening. So many domestic trips to family in Melbourne and Queensland will also be on the 2021 agenda - and hopefully earlier than that.

We were supposed to be doing a RTW trip leaving Sydney at the end of July . Italy being part of our adventure with the Palio having been on our bucket list for so long we booked. We have heard that the Palio dates have been moved to September. Our tickets are for August. Hoping with 26,000 deaths they will cancel this year which is the only way we will get a refund ($1500) Schools in Italy are closed until September so we live in hope

Was booked for Jun /July this year to Portugal and Scotland. Have asked for vouchers as planning to do same time next year. Qantas hotels being a bit difficult to deal with but all airfares Qantas and KLM honoured with vouchers.

Were going to be in Scandanavia and Russia in June and July. Booking is tied up with the "Flight Centre" issue. Next year perhaps... depending on the refund and credit!

As soon as Jacynda and Scomo finally announce their “travel bubble”, I’ll be booking at least two, if not three, return trips to Australia. Hopefully, that will still happen in time for my birthday in mid July. Better even, include the Pacific Islands and Singapore and I’ll happily spend even more money on flights.

As far as bigger holidays are concerned... Who knows! Ironically, we had originally planned a trip to Germany via China for all places in July and a cruise for all things from New York (again, for all places- there’s a pattern here in my ability to book the silliest things possible...) in November. We now intend to try that cruise again around Easter next year and then maybe head to Germany for Oktoberfest in September 2021. But that’s all dependent on how that damn Virus continues to spread or not.

Iceland opening up its borders on June 15th

I'm currently holding a booking on a voyage from Biak (Indonesian Spice Islands)-Darwin in January 2021, with QF PER-DRW-PER flights booked and upgraded.

Hoping it will happen. It's the return leg of a Darwin-Biak voyage. I suspect Coral Expeditions will be working hard at how to get people from the charter flight from DRW to Biak airport transported under quarantine straight to the vessel, and vice-versa.

Apart from that, I'm holding 110% credits from tours to Romania, Moldova, Ukraine and Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia that I was supposed to be on right now , that I hope to use next year for the same or other tours in that company's catalogue.

Normally, I would be planning my annual DONEx for 2021 by now, but it's too soon. After 16 successive annual DONExs, missing this year's hurt badly; to miss two years running will be unimaginably brutal.

Iceland opening up its borders on June 15th

The interesting part is:

From June 15, however, tourists and Icelandic residents will be allowed to enter the country from outside the Schengen area, and all travellers given the option to get tested upon entering instead of undergoing quarantine. Authorities expect test results to be available the same day, and those who test negative for SARS-CoV-2 will not be required to quarantine themselves.

If travellers have a reliable certificate confirming they have recently tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 they will also be exempt from undergoing quarantine. Travellers will, however, be asked to download Iceland’s official contact tracing app.

As after a person is infected with Covid 19 it can take a few days to give a positive result it does still mean that some tourists could spread Covid19.

Good idea forcing travellers to use the app.

Our 2021 trip to Berlin has now got a better reason to go ahead. The family reunion there planned for this August has now been cancelled and set for late August next year. The organisers have had attendees from Canada, Australia &Singapore forced to cancel their attendance for this year. And they are still not sure what the rules, space per person etc, for group meetings will be like in Germany in August so it has all been postponed.

We were meant to be heading to Fiji for most of June. I have just rejigged out timeshare there to be three weeks in October. I am not particularly optimistic as yet but wanted to be ahead of the rush if it does open up by then.

The trip over was with VA so who knows at this stage what will happen with that. The trip back was booked with Fiji Airways. When I went to change it there are no change fees but they want to book us into a higher fare category at a higher cost. I'll ring someone else back a bit closer to the date.
