Anytime access – how did you use it?

Have used it twice this year when flying with another airline, in ADL at 6am and SYD T2, which wasn't crowded compared to T3 at a similar time. Will use it twice more this year in similar circumstances. Didn't use it last week, when flying another airline.

Used it once for an arrival into CBR to use the facilities and to get the aircraft name through the window.

Will now be using it for IKEA trips in ADL and just randomly when I feel like a drink. Might cost me a bit with the wife shopping at IKEA, ;) but what the hey, happy wife, happy life.

My suggestion to them was to limit access to the J lounge to flying that day and allow anytime access to the QP.

That's how it is supposed to be now. If they are having issues of people in the J lounge when flying a competitor, perhaps they need to actually enforce the current rules.

Or a smarter approach would be to make platinums happier.... taking away a access certainly won't help QF.

Exactly what I mentioned on another thread:!: That is the reason why I think pulling out the "overcrowding" card is rubbish.

I used anytime access when I was meeting or seeing off workmates or suppliers/customers who where flying QF, I only twice used it when flying the competition, at T2 Sydney about 4 years ago and 10 years ago when I had a midnight flight with SQ ex Mel and I arrived at 3PM, I think I had three beers in total.

Pity QF cannot see the glass half full option, offering an hour of parking at Valet for $10-15 for WPs seeing off clients etc while using their anytime access might be a profitable compromise.

When I was living in Perth and both myself and Mrs Batesy were WP we would often drop east coast visitors at the airport. One of us would go in with them while the other did a lap in the car. This meant our vistors could get access to the lounge if they did not have their own access which was the case more often than not. If there were more than two of them we would park the car and take them all in. Back then parking at PER was not very expensive.

Best other use was when picking up people at SYD that if I chose to park and they were delayed or not the type to be picked up at the kerb (Mum) then I had somewhere to wait.

Have not been WP for a while so no loss for me now.

I've never used the QP when flying another airline. I have used it frequently when connecting to a partner airline in SYD or CBR. If QF had not re-instated this then I would definitely have walked, not sure where though as DJ don't yet seem to be a real alternative. I live too far from a QP to use as a local or to drop family/ friends at Airport but I can appreciate that the latter of these is a true marker of WP status. I like the idea of the guest pass option. Allowed 2 guests when WP flying/ connecting. Guest passes otherwise, linked to the WP card preventing them being sold on eBay!

One of Alanslegal’s posts in the other monster thread got me thinking

Good minds think alike ;)

Anyway, we just turned WP so haven't made use of anytime access yet. Theoretically this is how we planned to use the SYD QP. On a Saturday, we would drop off our friends at the terminal, I'd then park off-site eg. around Mascot and take a 15minute walk to the terminal. Spend a couple of hours in the lounge, watch all types of travellers do their business, see the planes taxxii'ing and wonder when our next flight maybe. Have a drink or two max. I'd then rush off and pick up the car, and call them for a kerbside pick up. We would do this maybe once (or twice) a month when not travelling.

If QF didn't know how 'anytime' was used before, it sure does now...!

But for the most part it was only used on a competitor when QF wasn't flying to the WP's destination. So that's still showing a lot of loyalty.

Great!

Perhaps they might have some idea that rather than giving a 'free kick' to the competition, it was rarely used as such and actually engendered further loyalty - which they may now be losing as some WPs look at double-Gold on other carriers / alliances, or OWE on other OW partners, rather than going the extra mile for WP on QFF.

And that's only if their stated motivations were sincere, which is the subject of some doubt here (especially with the '90 hour QC sale' that conveniently accompanied the move).

Anyway, I said I'd defer commenting on the merits of the decision to the other thread, so I'll leave it at that.

In my opinion >70 flights domestic flights a year on QF by a self funded (irrelevant that they are red e-deals) traveller is more than enough loyalty.

I'll be up to 59 flights on QF/OW, plus 4 *A, and 1 DJ. All self-funded and 2/3rds int.

The non QF flights all NZ related as QF couldn't offer me the flights I needed (irrelevant of cost).
