Anytime Lounge Access Finishing? [Yes, from 15Aug12]

So, AFF did a 1st lounge run to mark the end of easy JQ35 runs... I'm guessing a lounge "non run" before August 15 to mark the end of ATA? I guess out of principle this would have to be at your closest lounge? LOL!

Do a search on wake here, we had one for loss of ATA for QF two years ago.

Perhaps there was selective leaks to determine the impact, I noticed some lurkers today browsing the threads....
Yes: some/one right now ;)

I've never used ATA as a comped gold, a qualified plat & requalified plat in the last 12 months. Lounge access is for flying.... And I would happily see it disappear as long as the international lounge access improves in the near future. Especially LAX.

Well I'll be first to put it out there.. I think this is a completely fair and understandable change by VA.

Right. So the question remains...
DJ has broken their own T&C's here. They said:
22.4 We will give you 30 days written notice of any material detrimental change to these Terms and Conditions and also post details on the Velocity Website. We may not give you any other notice of changes.
(from Terms & Conditions | Velocity Frequent Flyer)

This, IMHO, constitutes a detrimental change. They have not provided 30 days notice.

I'm no legal person, but surely there's something here...

Which T&C did they change?

(Indeed, where on the Velocity site did they say there was ATA?)

I'm no legal person either, but even if this is a contravention of the T&C, for it to go to a legal end, I would imagine that the following would need to happen / be established:
  • Someone will have to bring about a legal action against VA. So who's going to do it? *crickets chirping, tumbleweed shuffles by*
  • It must be not only established that there is a violation, but that the violation has a tangible detrimental effect on one's self. (If there wasn't, then it could be marked as trivial and dismissed).
  • What damages would you seek?

So let's not bring the legal argument in, because it's probably too murky and irrelevant.

No your right, it's not ATA, but anytime you fly with us or our partner's access which looks like the way they are moving. I think it's how it should be as well.
But that's not ATA at all, that's just normal lounge access. :p

Leaving aside the issue of whether the removal of ATA is a good or a bad thing, IMHO I think VA's reason for this decision is to free up space in the lounge to accommodate flyers with other benefits. Remember, VA has partnered with Amex which allows Amex's Plat & Cent card holders flying VA (who aren't Gold or Plat) can access the lounge. I also suspect there may be quite a number of lounge members flying VA without ever reaching Gold.

VA needs to accommodate all of these without cramping up the lounges.

Agree, however QF thought 6 months notice was needed. This indicates ATA is a significant change of benefits in the eyes of your average frequent flyer.
